Take Back Alberta claims UCP president has become a tyrant

Um, does Parker mean, 'by decree'?

And what does he mean 'has become'?
Wake up, Dave!
Cynthia lived across the alley in Drayton Valley, and, as an only child, she always ruled her 'minions by decree'.
Also, an awesome, descriptive article to bring back the memories.

Interesting migration stats ... Alberta is booming, while other provinces are losing ground. It has to do something with "evil" Conservatives, right?

More like because of the present affordability--which we're taking advantage of right now.BC Landlord wrote: ↑Jul 2nd, 2023, 1:16 pm Interesting migration stats ... Alberta is booming, while other provinces are losing ground. It has to do something with "evil" Conservatives, right?![]()

The only concern is the Government hasn't been keeping pace with infrastructure to handle the boom in population--except for Calgary with the UCP plan for helping out on the new Saddledome over completing the new hospital in Edmonton.

Been following this. From what I've seen and heard it was a doozy.
Damage from Alberta tornado ranks it among strongest in Canada's history

Maybe someday we'll find a way to prevent tornados.

Re: Alberta
This is insane to even contemplate. King Canute kind of insane.
We need to stop continuously saying that Canada is moving toward fascism and just admit that under the Carney Liberals we are already there.

Ah yes, the misunderstood legend of King Canute. The Green Barbarian wrote: ↑Jul 4th, 2023, 5:52 pmThis is insane to even contemplate. King Canute kind of insane.
Canute the Great
Canute (or Cnut) I, or Canute the Great (Old Norse: Knútr inn ríki, Danish: Knud den Store, Norwegian: Knut den mektige) (994/995 – November 12, 1035) was king of England, Denmark, and Norway and governor or overlord of Schleswig and Pomerania. Canute is generally regarded as a successful ruler who brought peace to the people over whom he ruled. England was so peaceful during his reign that he frequently was able to leave the British isles to deal with affairs elsewhere, although England was his base.
He also helped to spread common institutions across North Europe, thus creating a sense of shared belonging.
<snip>
Canute is perhaps best remembered for the legend of how he commanded the waves to go back. According to the legend, he grew tired of flattery from his courtiers. When one such flatterer gushed that the king could even command the obedience of the sea, Canute proved him wrong by practical demonstration at Bosham, his point being that even a king's powers have limits. Unfortunately, this legend is usually misunderstood to mean that he believed himself so powerful that the natural elements would obey him, and that his failure to command the tides only made him look foolish. It is quite possible that the legend is simply pro-Canute propaganda.
Canute died in 1035, at Shaftesbury in Dorset, and was buried at Winchester. On his death, Canute was succeeded in Denmark by Harthacanute, reigning as Canute III. Harold took power in England, however, ruling until his death (1040), whereupon the two crowns were again briefly reunited under Harthacanute.

Except that in this context, which was stupidly misconstrued in the response, was not misunderstood at all. The legend is that King Canute determined that he somehow had the power to stop the tides of the ocean. This in line with stupidly thinking that mankind can stop tornadoes. Just as dumb. And just as dumb as thinking that man has some kind of control over the earth's climate. We don't. At all.

From my Tyee newsletter to you today, news of Steph and Jay.
Stephen Harper showed up in Hungary this week to glad-hand Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Harper is visiting Europe to discuss collaboration between “centre-right parties” with a government that’s been accused of corruption and undermining judicial independence, and a politician who’s referred to asylum claimants as “Muslim invaders.” [The Globe and Mail]
Jason Kenney has a new job. The ex-premier is now working as a senior advisor for Eventcombo, which describes itself on its website as offering “a shift left #SinglePlatform, all-in-one self-service in-person, virtual and phygital event solution with cutting edge technology.” ‘Phygital’ isn’t a typo, by the way. It’s apparently a marketing term for the “blending of digital experiences with physical ones.” Anyway. The New Jersey-based company says it’s planning to build a new headquarters in Calgary. Kenney will, presumably, use his business and government connections to help land some big event contracts. [Calgary Herald]

Re: Alberta
Yet you support a PM and his liberalism party that has been actually found guilty of corruption, ethic breaches, lying, covering up important vital information and your focus needs to be on everyone else except the one guy doing it all while being the actual current PM of this country.
Scary difference between trudeaus followers and everyone else that wants him gone is the Trudeau loyalists are actually denying themselves personal morals and expectations in order to keep ones very own victimhood support intact.
This new woke liberalism thing is so very odd, the constant need to discredit any other item, person, government etc. that is a challenge to their own existence. The only way to validate oneself is to discredit their neighbour. Seems cheap and pathetic for sure.
Liberalism, the symbol of failure.

Re: Alberta
Only to the point that the Trudeau Liberals are a better choice than Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives. Keep your eyes peeled, it will be interesting to see what Alberta looks like after the next four years.
