Yes they had a suicide bombing at the airport, but now those Canadian lives left are worthless to the Taliban. Why didn't our government listen months ago and get out the translators and Canadians then, instead of leaving it until now and the mess. Taliban are not going to live up to their word. If anyone thinks that women will be allowed to still do schooling etc they have a screw loose. 20 years of fighting there and training the Afghani Forces for nothing. The Afghani military never had any intent on protecting their people when they had the US and Canada there. My opinion on it all. Feel for those left behind.
We should have been getting them out in the 2011-2014 period as we ended our military presence in Afghanistan. Unfortunately the CPC government at the time, and immigration minister Jason Kenney, choose to take the attitude "they got paid, they knew the risks".

Yup, there has been time since then to rectify things somewhat, but politically both the CAQ and CPC were busy stirring up Islamophobic nonsense and anti-refugee nonsense making it difficult. Point blank we all "turned our eyes away" as Canadians and forgot about the issue - and thus left it too late. To be honest, the issue with interpreters et al in Afghanistan had dropped away from my attention for 4-5 years. Part of that is politics, part of that is "well, we are out of there". I certainly can't recall any mention of that particular issue in the 2019 election.

Events have caught up with us as Canadians, and unfortunately we have not lived up to our moral obligations. Very few of us can claim any "high ground" on that, and certainly not any of our politicians. I do mean ANY of our politicians regardless of party.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

That should be it for Justin's 20,000.

Dun....dun....dun.....because anything JT does now in Afghanistan is a bonus because he was elected a year after Emperor Harper's departure. It's a miracle JT got as many as he has because the Taliban has overrun Afghanistan due having no troops to cover the allies evacuation. Apparently, most of them were sent home according to a treaty signed with the US and Taliban.

You said it, GB.

So apparently Trudeau's apologists want us to believe Harper should have somehow gotten all dictatorial on any Canadians or Afghani allies who who didn't want to leave Afghanistan in 2011-2014, and forced them to leave Afghanistan in 2011-2014 even though they didn't want to. Just in case, you know, Afghanistan became too risky a place for them to live and work and visit at some point in the future.

Apparently Harper should have known that in the future, we would have a Canadian government too stupid or too callous or too oblivious to the risk people living and working and visiting family in Afghanistan were facing to help them leave Afghanistan in a timely fashion.

How stupid do these Trudeau apologists think Canadians are?

We can see who dropped the ball on this. We know the current government wasn't paying attention. We know Trudeau's promise to take in 20,000 refugees in no way makes up for his government neglecting to do their job.

And Justin did NOTHING when Erin O'Toole told him to get his *bleep* together on July 22nd.

Dumb...dumb...dumb....that's what Justin is. It's not a "bonus" if he saves one guy and but ends up killing 10 others. What a disgusting and evil take on the whole situation. My goodness, it's like the Liberals are deliberately trying to lose this election.

Who calls an election on the same day when thousands of Canadians are trapped in a foreign country, facing certain death and/or horrible torture?

When many are losing their homes and income to fires?

What kind of vile human being even considers doing something that callous?

At some point it's about personal responsibility in getting you and the family out a dangerous and a collapsing situation.
Dont be surprised if someone stands in front of a hurricane and get swept away because they ignored and took action a little too late.

If there are any Canadians left after 7 years where Canada officially left, then that's called personal responsibility in getting one's tush out of there way before the last second and it falls on them to have done that. Any rationale Canadian should know that and it's only the partisan JT haters that usually throws any logic out in an effort to tag JT for something he was NOT involved in.

Translation: Blaming Harper back-fired, now let's blame the people who are there, not the Canadian government that they trusted in to be there if/when crap hit the fan. Just wow. The lengths to try to absolve our idiot PM and his gang of children from responsibility really is disgusting. Katie - I'm speaking directly to you now and not to your DI's - it's time to accept that you guys muffed this big time. It's your only play here. Enough with the finger pointing. You guys blew it.

No, it's about the duty a country has to it's citizens, Trudeau does not understand his duty to country. Instead of looking after the interests of Canada and her Citizens, he greedily chases his political ambition. Anyone who wants to Prime Minister must be "Nation first", not "Me Me Me"

Someone who didn't bother to pay attention when Canadians and our allies in Afghanistan needed him to.

It was obvious the situation in Afghanistan had changed drastically over the course of a few weeks. The Trudeau government failed to take the situation seriously - typical of him and his unserious, play-acting government.

It's reprehensible for his apologists to blame those who have been trying to cut through the red tape over the past few weeks. They continue to make it obvious Canadians cannot ever, under any circumstances, expect Trudeau to take his responsibilities to any of us seriously.

It's cute that you think this happens.

20,000+ where the VAST MAJORITY don't speak English well (if at all), have limited skill sets and who are depending on US to take care of THEM... and yet they're magically going to support ME 10 years from now? Ha.

If these were actual immigrants with education, technical skills and/or resources to come here legally and contribute to our way of life... then sure, come on in. These are poor people being saved, coming with nothing and will still be poor here.

And for those who call me mean, jaded or racist... it's quite simply a "we can't save everyone" mindset. There are literally hundreds of millions who need to be saved in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. This situation is no more dire than those in Venezeula, Somalia, Yemen or Syria right now.

Why Afghani's but not these other people literally having civil wars in 2021?
