It's the soldiers we should be honouring. But the way we should do that is never make them pay for their medication again and if anybody deserves a payout it's whoever is remaining that fought in the wars. They should be getting a lump sum of money to tide them over for the rest of their life so they never have to worry about finances again in their golden years after fighting for the country

Re: Flags at half mast
For those that don’t think it’s a big deal to keep the flag flying at half staff, or believe it’s nothing but empty symbolism to go through the flag lowering ceremony on November 11 to honour those killed in battle, consider this ; Just imagine if Canada and the allied forces didn’t have armed forces to push back against the Nazi’s starting in 1939, or Canada and the other allied forces chose to remain neutral like Switzerland and Norway did, the Nazi’s would have conquered all of Europe and undoubtedly eventually this country as well, it was the allied forces that helped keep the Nazi’s from taking Moscow… There never would’ve been a future woke generation in the 21st century to advocate for the rights of First Nations peoples, or the LGBQT2Sxyz community, or racialised people, all those people would’ve followed the Jews right into the showers..
Anyone that likes and appreciates our rights and freedoms should bloody well honour and respect the significance of the flag lowering ceremony on November 11 to commemorate our fallen armed forces members that helped to keep and preserve our way of life by putting their lives on the line..

Re: Flags at half mast
We are all aware of the sacrifices troops made.
That is why we are shocked and appalled that the folks nattering about flags are the same folks who were silent when He Who Shall Not Be Named was savagely slashing benefits for veterans and shuttering veterans offices.
All so he could pretend-balance a budget before an election he lost.
It's the hypocrisy that bothers us.

Re: Flags at half mast
It seems this issue has caused such a furor across Canada that our heads of state had to actually sit down and figure out what the hell they have to do to backpedal:
“In a joint statement today, Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez and Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller confirmed the flags on Parliament Hill's Peace Tower and all government buildings will be raised at sunset on Nov. 7 and lowered at sunrise on Nov. 8 to recognize Indigenous Veterans Day.
They will then be raised again before being lowered on Nov. 11 — Remembrance Day. After those ceremonies, the flag will fly at full mast on government buildings.”
Snipped
“The ministers said the government sought guidance from Indigenous partners on how best to honour the victims of residential schools.
"Moving forward, the national flag of Canada will be half-masted to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation every September 30," they said”
Snipped
“Miller said the federal government is also preparing for future discoveries of unmarked graves at former residential schools. He said the government will collaborate with Indigenous communities before making decisions about flags IF more discoveries are made.”

Our flag is getting a workout, up and down, much like a callgirl’s panties.
Note that the narrative above barely recognizes Veteran’s Day.
