Should Constable Lesley Smith be dismissed from the RCMP?

Poll ended at Mar 3rd, 2022, 9:03 am

I feel she is ok as a reserve doing the same tasks as a regular member.

I feel she should be dismissed and no association with the RCMP.

The story of Constable. Lesley Smith has me concerned.

Minimum requirements to join
To become a reservist, you need to:

be of good character
be a graduate from a recognized Canadian police training institution
have at least two years of Canadian police experience
have successfully completed a field-coaching program
have retired or resigned in good standing within the last three years
meet the health requirements for operational duties
obtain a Secret security clearance

Please watch the video and read the story. What are your feelings on this topic?

The only thing I can think of is that she has/had scuffed knees.

She should no longer be a Police Officer of any kind, anywhere.

That's worked out great for me!

The optics here is very poor - it appears as though the officer was about to go through a code-of-conduct investigation, and that was halted due to her resignation. The optics is that "paperwork signalling investigation not stamped/signed yet" equals "in good standing" is really a technicality. She should be required to undergo that investigation - and then her fitness as a reserve member be determined based on the outcome of that.
I'd like to change your mind, but I don't have a fresh diaper.

That appears to be the case. Now, no record on her file case dismissed.

She is now enlisted as a "Reservist" and can likely work as many hours at the same pay scale as she was.

Why is this OK?? I think it is pathetic, it does not look good for the integrity of the RCMP.

I used to be proud of the RCMP as our National Police force.

Not so much anymore.

She is still employed for the City of Kelowna as a reservist. I wish Castanet would do a follow up story and take the RCMP to task.

This is terrible and I can see why so many members are off ill, how could you work in this environment? Smith and the other member who took his neighbor and ran his family around. What is this the best they can do for Policing in our community?

Lately the news strikes as their leader has been covering facts by placing blame on the Crown prosecutors officer. She too must not have a very high level of integrity.

https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/3 ... statements

Corporal R.A.Fehler states - The Kelowna RCMP remains committed to providing the highest level of service and accountability to the residents of our community. We appreciate your concerns, and I hope my communication has provided some clarity on an unfortunate, and challenging situation we have all had to deal with. Please feel free to contact me should you wish to discuss any other concerns you may have.

Simply solution, do what is right. Dismiss Constable Smith and let her find a job where she won't harm others.

Does Castanet have investigative reporters?? If so I do hope you pull this story and cover it.

This is pathetic that that is the best the RCMP can do for the Citizens of this community.
