I guess her past lavish expenses never got her a slap on the wrist so she is at it again in Iceland .
$71,000.00 for limo service ! Beef Wellington ! Let them eat cake !

She makes $350,000.00 a year !

Yes, and the funniest part was that she was in Iceland for a "climate conference" - flying in on a government jet, using a $71,000 limo to attend. You just can't make this crap up man.
Even though it is the absolute truth how participants wind up being at the so-called climate conferences, it goes right over lefties’ heads, oblivious and unseeing , and willing to cheer on the fiasco indefinitely.

Is it the school system, how they were raised, or the water they drink? There is something very wrong with the wilfully blind.

John Robson: Governor General has come to embody the extravagant hypocrisy of our Liberal elite

Watching Canadian “leaders” commit blunder after blunder reminds me of an old jibe about Philip II of Spain that, “No experience of the failure of his policy could shake his belief in its essential excellence.” And of what Marie Antoinette famously did not say about brioches, because it’s less about policies than a sublime sense of personal excellence. Hence our high-flying Governor General just racked up $71,000 in limousine services alone during her four-day trip to Iceland last October. Where do they get this sense of entitlement, and how can we make it stop?

Governor General Mary Simon’s conduct reeks of hypocrisy in that she had flown to Reykjavik, then clambered into this high-class chariot, partly to fulminate against the supposed crisis of man-made climate change due to excessive emissions of CO2. But does she care?

And does she care that she spent your annual salary to be driven 500 metres from her hotel to a conference that apparently required a 15-person entourage? (Shades of Dickens’ ancien régime dignitary requiring four people to prepare his chocolate.) Surely walking would have set a twin example of fitness and climate responsibility. But if her feet hurt, it would have been cheaper to buy a limousine on arrival and abandon it at the airport upon departing.

Two, actually, according to Franco Terrazzano of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation , who added that the website of Icelimo, which ferried our betters about at such mind-boggling expense, boasts of “genuine luxury travel life experiences … crafted with flair and finesse entirely around your dreams.” I suppose it depends what your dreams are.

Mine don’t include the predictable headlines on returning home about yet another Governor General mocking the peasants from her palace. While noshing on $608 steak followed by $238 dessert. The insolence is staggering.

Especially since she was already in trouble for a $1.3-million Middle Eastern jaunt in March 2022, while the peasants were still reeling from COVID lockdowns, including a staggering $99,000 in in-flight catering. On top of the $103,000 in airplane luxury dining during her $700,000, four-day book fair jaunt to Germany in October 2021 with a 32-person entourage. (Incidentally, as supreme commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, Dwight D. Eisenhower got by with just 15 commanders and senior staff.)

How, with Canada’s vast bureaucracy and virtually universal public-sector bonuses for splendid work getting $1,000 lemons and limes or whatever it is they do, was there nobody to warn her not to spray herself with cash again? Nobody in her entourage to say “gosh, that’s a pricey limo to go down the street (especially given a $18,600 pre-visit to scout things out in a city of just 140,000 people covering only 273 square kilometres)”? Or do they just not care?

Actually they do care. They flaunt it. Which brings me to our prime minister, who seems to have the largest carbon footprint in Canada yet, without any sign of self-awareness, leaps on a jet airplane to self-promote at every opportunity, including heckling us commoners for driving carbon pollution-spewing cars to work, shop or see family.

In the past week alone he jetted from Lithuania to Ottawa to Dartmouth for the North American Indigenous Games, where he delivered the usual windy speech and was booed , before materializing in Toronto to “deliver the keynote speech at the Australia-Canada Economic Leadership Forum,” as colossal a self-important waste of time, money and high-octane fuel as one can imagine.

Incidentally, the Aboriginal Games booing was edited out of official accounts by the same people grasping for censorship powers to combat something they call “misinformation” online. Again a normal person would feel some embarrassment. But again we are not governed by normal people.

They have the normal human failings. But not the normal effort, driven by the normal consequences of arrogance, to cultivate virtues like humility. They are above such things, as they are above accountability. The final, crushing insult is that nothing is ever their fault. Not even owning stocks in a defence contractor while pledging to help Ukraine, forgetting you own a French villa, accepting unethical gifts or wearing blackface.

Yikes almighty!

Reading the article almost sets my hair on fire. This is just one of the overlords attached to the Niberal regime spending like there was no tomorrow.

Is there any wonder that financially struggling Canadians have pitchforks, tar and feathers and drownings foremost on their minds when buying groceries, paying rent or mortgages or filling gas tanks? This irresponsible and oh-so-superior, insolent gang of bureaucrats are begging for a good kicking.

From the link above. Read this carefully while you are rolling your dimes and nickels around, wondering if you have enough to buy a single loaf of bread.

Bolding mine.

It's all free money, right?

#REPORT: Trudeau's governor general Mary Simon logged thousands of kilometers in flights during the pandemic because she wanted to live in Nova Scotia instead of her 175-room Rideau Hall mansion in Ottawa.

For the life of me, just cannot understand why Niberals, Putz and cohorts all NEED to be in the air, jetting with royalty treatment, nothing but the bestest at fingertips, not a glance at the bottom line.

Aladdin and his flying carpet must have been less costly to be airborne compared to these grifters.

Current Liberal party motto........."Once a pig at the trough.............always a pig at the trough!"

With the maximum of two years left for this group of 100% pigs at the trough PLUS all of the other appointments they have laid on Canada from these absolutely disgusting GG's to the Liberal appointed judges, expect more damage.

If there has ever been a time for a "coup" to happen in Canada..............it is now...........to save what is left and start repairing the damage.

Unfortunately, Canadians being Canadians will let themselves be bankrupted into future generations, reviled, taxed to death and sneered at until Doomsday, when any other nation would be out there, marching and protesting against an ugly govt. and yes, possible coup.

It is going to get ugly when this pith-poor excuse for a PM WILL NOT resign as he should have months (years) ago when it had become evident that he was bent on destroying the country he was supposed to support and nurture until voted out.

More destruction via the GG

There was only one reason why she was appointed the Governor General. If she truly believed that the Canadian government has turned their back on the indigenous, then she should have refused the appointment.

Yeah...............she must have had a hard time mulling it over...................probably, what 10 seconds to say.........."WHAT, your going to give me how much money and an expense account to do absolutely nothing anywhere in the world..............you found the right woman for that because I know how to do :cuss: all better than the majority and have always got paid to do nothing my whole life".

Every time I read about how she throws around our money I get madder.
btw, get rid of the Monarchy fairly sure we could get rid of the GG. The role was as a rep for the KIng, and up until the early 50s the position was held by a Brit,
test that assumption at your earliest convenience

Does she send Justin's socks to the dry cleaners, too?

Governor General spends $117,000 on dry cleaning

Canada’s Governor General and Rideau Hall have racked up a six-figure dry cleaning tab in recent years, according to records obtained by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General dropped $117,566 on professional dry-cleaning services since 2018, despite having in-house staff on the payroll responsible for doing the laundry.

“When I spill half the Pizza Hut lunch buffet on my white work shirt, I don’t stick the company I work for with the dry-cleaning bill and neither should the governor general,” said Franco Terrazzano, CTF Federal Director. “This is another perk the governor general enjoys that struggling Canadians can’t afford.”

Rideau Hall’s dry cleaning tab costs taxpayers an average of more than $1,800 a month.

It’s enough money to dry clean 13,831 blouses, 6,204 dresses or 3,918 duvets, according to the prices at Majestic Cleanersin Ottawa.

Details of dry-cleaning expenditures at Rideau Hall were released in response to an order paper question from Conservative MP Kelly McCauley (Edmonton West).

snip

In May, the National Post revealed that current Governor General Mary Simon and her predecessor, Julie Payette, combined to bill taxpayers for more than $88,000 in clothing purchases since 2017. The governor general can expense up to $130,000 on clothing over their five-year mandate.

Purchases ranged from a $3,000 “black velvet dress with silk lining” to $1,064 boots and a $450 “ecru hat.”

“Why does the Governor General’s office need to spend so much on dry cleaning when it already has staff doing laundry and there’s a six-figure expense account for new clothes?” Terrazzano said. “Whether it’s feasting on fancy airplane food, spending a fortune on a limo service in Iceland, or staying in the finest of hotels, Rideau Hall spares no expense when it’s taxpayers picking up the tab.”

snip

The governor general’s annual salary now sits at $351,600, after receiving a $48,800 pay raise since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why Canadians, sick to death of paying for this filthy govt and its irresponsible spending behaviour, are not marching in the streets, protesting.

A $50,000.00 raise in pay ??? What the hell for?

Swine, each and every Niberal in govt and their appointees. Swine at the trough

But is anyone surprised by this? The entire culture of accountability was flung out the window when the Liberals took power. They eradicated the law that was going to force Indigenous reserves to be audited in order to continue receiving funding, they ratcheted up funding for the CBC with zero strings (other than to report favorably on the Liberals at every turn) and let the GG spend at will. The Liberals continue to pump money abroad to every cause de jour and never ask to see where it is being spent, and last but not least, they pump money by the billions into Ukraine and into every new "climate project" they can find, once again, with zero accountability.

This era of federal stupidity must end. Soon.
