How do I know the Rogers-Shaw merger was a good thing? Because the idiot Jagmeet says it is bad. So it must be good, as that clown is wrong 10 times out of 10.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstor ... b22f&ei=19FIRST READING: Jagmeet Singh's unclear plan to seize the raises of CEOs he doesn’t like
After it emerged that Loblaw head Galen Weston received a nearly $1.2 million raise amid controversy over rising grocery inflation, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh announced an unspecified plan to take the raise and “give it to families and food banks.”
“I’m sick of this. Every cent of Greedy Galen’s 55% raise deserves to be taxed,” wrote Singh in a Wednesday tweet.
This was followed by an official NDP website inviting supporters to add their names to a petition calling for Weston’s raise to “go to the people who need it more.”
“We should tax Galen Weston’s million dollar raise and send that money to families and food banks,” it reads against a page soliciting a supporter’s name, address, email and phone number.
Newflash to Jagmeet and the idiot NDP - Weston's income is taxed. You don't need to "tax" it, as it already is being taxed. You can't earn income in Canada and not pay tax on it. What a buffoon. I think what idiot Jagmeet is saying is that he wants to seize Galen Weston's income. All of it. Which is what they do in communist regimes. Jagmeet is complete scum.

That is a simplistic point of view. The CRA doesn't have the manpower to chase down taxes - so billions get left uncollected. Not to mention the efforts that were successful in making sure that there were ways for businesses to skirt taxes for generations. Things will eventually change. The Green Barbarian wrote: ↑Apr 10th, 2023, 1:35 pmhttps://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstor ... b22f&ei=19FIRST READING: Jagmeet Singh's unclear plan to seize the raises of CEOs he doesn’t like

So now you are accusing Galen Weston of tax fraud. All to try and defend Jagmeet's stupidity. Amazing!!nucksRnum1 wrote: ↑Apr 10th, 2023, 5:11 pm

I can assure you, if Galen Weston is a Canadian resident, then he is paying taxes. To suggest otherwise is juvenile and asinine. Which are two of Jagmeet's biggest traits. Not to mention the efforts that were successful in making sure that there were ways for businesses to skirt taxes for generations. Things will eventually change.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstor ... ced8&ei=10AGAR: Singh goes after the grocery man
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is a dangerous man.
Ideology is one thing. A difference of opinion between individuals and political parties is to be expected.
But a man who thinks himself justified in taking money from others — who in his estimation shouldn’t have it — is not someone who should hold the reins of power.
The National Post reported: “After it emerged that Loblaw head Galen Weston received a nearly $1.2-million raise amid controversy over rising grocery inflation, Singh announced an unspecified plan to take the raise and “give it to families and food banks.”
“I’m sick of this. Every cent of Greedy Galen’s 55% raise deserves to be taxed,” wrote Singh in a Wednesday tweet.
SNIP
Singh’s proposal is very Chairman Mao; very North Korea.
Considering all taxes, Weston will pay more than half of that income to the Canadian and Ontario governments as it is. But when Singh threatens he will take all of that money, he may as well wield a hammer and sickle in case Weston resists.
Singh is paid, with salary and expenses, in the neighbourhood of $340,00 a year.
He wears custom suits and sports Rolex watches. He is hardly the common man.
He is the very sort of person he purports to save Canadians from. He is more tone deaf than Weston with hypocrisy thrown in.
He is also either economically ignorant or he is very aware of the futility and evil of a 100% tax rate, at any income level, but is willing to commit economic violence pandering to the ignorant and jealous.
I know it's hard to fathom, but Jagmeet just might be even dumber than Justin.

Sabrina Maddeaux: Jagmeet Singh keeps failing to out-populist Pierre Poilievre
It appears NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has finally woken up to the fact that Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is eating his lunch. From union workers to young professionals, polls show the CPC gaining support from demographics historically part of the NDP base.
However, this epiphany hasn’t led to substantially improved policy proposals or even improved rhetoric. Rather, Singh’s efforts to respond highlights just how unserious he is about fixing the economic crises that matter to young Canadians and everyday workers.
Singh isn’t just failing to protect his lunch, but seems determined to hand over his breakfast and dinner, too.
The NDP leader’s efforts to tap into left-wing economic populism largely focus on Galen Weston Jr., CEO of Loblaw. First, he hauled Weston in front of the House of Commons for questioning. Not a bad move in and of itself, had Singh not entirely failed to capitalize on the opportunity and choose flippancy over fiscal savvy.
Now, he’s on a campaign to tax Weston’s recent $1.2 million raise. He even has a petition –– aka voter data collection vehicle –– that reads, “ We should tax Galen Weston’s million dollar raise and send that money to families and food banks. Add your name if you agree.”
The problem is, the very premise of Singh’s campaign makes no sense. Weston’s raise, like all income, will already be subject to tax. With this in mind, it can only be assumed Singh means to tax Galen’s raise by 100 per cent. In other words, confiscate and redistribute it.
Anyone who takes more than a nanosecond to think past any schadenfreude gleaned from this proposal can see what a bad idea it would be. Never mind the full tilt into socialism, confiscating wealth above a certain threshold would kill Canada’s business competitiveness and disincentivize innovation and ambition.
The suggestion is obviously a non-starter, and either a cynical or wildly naive attempt to pander to struggling Canadians while offering them nothing of substance.

Is there anyone left in Canada that still votes NDP? There can't be many.

Jagmeet Singh the fool on the hill
Is Jagmeet Singh a fool? It may not be our most important public policy question today, which would be something like “Is Canada’s Prime Minister a Chinese Communist pawn?” or “Is liberalism the ideology of Western suicide?” But it keeps coming up, most recently when the NDP voted with the Liberals to shut down a Parliamentary committee inquiry into CCP donations to the Trudeau Foundation. And it matters whether public events are driven primarily by cunning or folly.
Remember that since antics like the SNC-Lavalin affair reduced the Liberals to a Commons minority in the 2019 election, where they stayed in 2021, Singh has been propping them up with one hand while giving them noogies with the other. He and his party keep saying things like “Liberals vote against an NDP motion calling for an independent public inquiry into foreign interference in Canadian elections” or “Liberal MPs joined the Conservatives to vote no to rebuilding and protecting public health care,” not to mention paranoid gems like “Canadian families woke up to inflation at a record high… The system is rigged because Liberals & Conservatives set it up that way — where the rich thrive & families are abandoned.”
The unwary voter would think Canada had a Liberal-Conservative coalition, with brave principled Singh leading the official opposition. And there really are only two possibilities.
