“Religious freedom is the cornerstone of western civilization,” Mr. Parker (Leader of "Take Back Alberta") tells the crowd, which is sprinkled with Mennonite women wearing black head scarves.

So now the NDP and the Extreme Left are targeting Mennonites for their hate? Is there no low too low for the NDP?

No they are not.

Most certainly they are not, this claim is just another example of deliberate misinformation and deflection of attention away from a group, Take Back Alberta, intent on pushing religion into government. Separation of church and state, the idea that government should remain neutral and not officially favour and one religion, is a mainstay of modern democracy.

There's not even a basis for questioning the "NDP and the Extreme Left" related to "hate for the Mennonites" or hate for any religious order from what's in the article cited below.

I've searched it and found no direct association with the terms Mennonite and the NDP at all.

It's going to one to watch for sure. On this second day of the campaign the one common thread in all the coverage I have seen is that it will be a very close race. The NDP have to gain over 20 seats from the last election to form a government, no small feat, but the UCP is best described as "wobbly" at this point in time, rife with internal differences.

“Religious freedom is the cornerstone of western civilization,” Mr. Parker (Leader of "Take Back Alberta") tells the crowd, which is sprinkled with Mennonite women wearing black head scarves.

“If we don’t have the freedom to believe what we want to believe, we have no freedom at all. And if we don’t have sovereignty over our own bodies, we have sovereignty over nothing.”

Take Back Alberta is an ambitious effort to influence power and remake society’s institutions to reflect the values that thread its followers together.

It is a network of people united by an individualistic understanding of rights and freedoms that is pulling Alberta’s governing United Conservative Party further to the right. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith on May 1 will officially trigger a provincial election, scheduled for May 29. Her ties to Mr. Parker, and TBA’s impact on the UCP, are increasingly divisive in the province and her party.

However, the accompanying podcast from the same article has now been posted to YouTube, and it shows how what's being attempted here by the right-wing in their ongoing NDP / left wing paranoia is to once again through their attempts at creating and spreading misinformation to try to foist the blame for that debilitating right-wing condition on people like me.

So is their no low too low here for the right-wing?

The vote from the religious right was instrumental in putting Donald Trump in office, and when it comes to getting elected nothing matters but votes. Ms. Smith's challenge is how to court the far right without alienating those closer to center who see the far right as a threat to democratic process. The Pawlowski affair is sticking to her like a barnacle.

Its interesting no one has ever been able to prove this threat to democracy you mention. Your somehow able to make a statement of its specific direction being upon the right. There are as many that clearly look upon the left as being the threat to democracy. Through things like foreign interference, corruption as current examples. This political tactic, threat to democracy thing has been a fear tactic used by the left's government for a few years now. Its been taught, manipulated to its extreme far left mob's. Its interesting that far left politically supporters cannot rely on just specific's to endorse their statements but need these created illusions as their only means.
Can you supply a list of proven examples of this threat you are labeling others with? Maybe some examples from the past of those governments and the obvious threats to democracy, the process?
The reason millions are fighting back against the new liberal tactics that make for their existence is because it weak, cheap, and incredibly pathetic.
Example's of proven, established, threats please.

What's to prove ? Mixing government with religion invariably seeks to influence policy with values that not every voter shares, education is a prime example. The justice system is another.

Also a mainstay of "modern democracy", is religious freedom, free of persecution. When a certain segment of a religion is deliberately targeted by the evil NDP, it's contra to our rights and freedoms as Canadians. The NDP is disgusting, there's just no other way to put it.

What the hell does this post even mean? *removed* Why would Smith go after the far right and alienate the centre right? The right right won't vote NDP just as the far left won't vote UCP, so of course she is trying to court more centrist voters and ignore the voters she is guaranteed to have, just as Notley is doing.

The reason why Smith raises the far left boogeyman is the same reason Notley raises the far right boogeyman. BOTH leaders try to smear the other as representing the most extreme elements that you ALWAYS get in big tent politics (AKA FPTP).

It's basic political strategy. You actually used to to by dishonestly conflating the religious right in the US with the far right in Alberta. Not to mention there's no evidence that Donald Trump got more of the religious right vote than Romney, McCain, or Bush. That's another dishonest smear by the media. I hope you're better than that.

Agreed. The extreme left NDP is hell bent on destroying the freedom of people to practise their religions.

The NDP must have decided that hard-working, honest folks in the Mennonite community were somehow a threat to their communist agenda. Remember when religions were attacked in 1930's and 1940's Germany?

Radical agendas always want to crush people's faith.

I think Alberta is fortunate that Danielle Smith is Premier. She respects the religious freedom principles of democracy.

An even better example, in the 1920's and 1930's when the Mennonites were attacked by communist Russia for their religious beliefs. They came to Canada to get away from the Extreme Left, the very evil that Danielle Smith is standing up to right now, and here they are in Canada now, being attacked yet again for their religious beliefs, by the same evil Extremists that they fled 100 years ago in Russia. Amazing how history repeats itself.

It is pretty disgusting how the truly lazy on the Extreme Left just trot out "Trump-like politics" and expect everyone to cower in fear. Such stupidity. Good thing there are politicians like Danielle Smith to fight against such evil disinformation coming from such truly awful people.

Just a follow-up to my earlier message above.

Here are a few more examples of the seemingly paranoid right-wing destroyers who appear to have taken over the Province of Alberta.

And what's most sad about it is, if there might be any stable conservatives around, it seems they may have yet to attempt to stabilize the mentally ill ones for their own good.

Paranoid populism arrives in force

For anyone who might be pondering whether the scourge of mass disinformation threatening to destroy democracy in the United States would spill over into Canada, there’s no need to wonder anymore.

Alberta, gorgeous province of big blue skies, has a blight known as the UCP Party, a fount of extremist American-style paranoia and needless discord.

UCP stands for United Conservative Party but it could just as easily be Unhinged Crisis People or Universally Coercive Panopticon, they’re not well and they lack social skills, other skills too.

Interesting that the closer May 29th is, the more frantic and the more frequent posts from Extreme Left become.

Maybe a little less empty chatter and a little more discussion of FACT.

Inevitable WIN for UCP on its way.

Thank goodness for Danielle Smith fighting the evil Extreme Left in Alberta. Go Danielle!!
The two sides of Rachel Notley

Premier Rachel Notley loves Alberta. She loves Calgary. She loves the working people of the oilsands. And she loves pipelines and rail cars to move Alberta’s oil to more lucrative markets. At least, that’s what she loves when in front of a live microphone and camera.

But there’s another Rachel Notley, the one with a rolodex of extreme environmentalists and an appointment pen. That Premier Notley appointed Tzeporah Berman, a former Greenpeace director and fierce opponent of oilsands development, to serve on her 2016 Oil Sands Advisory Group. The premier has a long history with Berman. According to the Calgary Herald, Berman:

…pocketed almost $23,000 advising Premier Rachel Notley’s government on environmental sustainable oilsands development, while also advocating against projects such as the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion that would help the industry and boost the provincial economy.
Berman thinks so highly of the oilsands that she compared them to the fictional wasteland of Mordor in Lord of the Rings. Even so, the premier wouldn’t fire her because “a diversity of voices is healthy.” Berman’s views have now evolved from sustainable development to “steady extinguishment” of the oilsands, painting an image of a sector in decline.

Now, it seems that either the premier did not learn the lesson of appointing an environmental fox to guard the hen house, or she’s singing from two separate song sheets—the one for cameras and the one for appointments.

As Licia Corbella points out in the National Post, Premier Notley has once again appointed another fox to guard the henhouse in the person of Ed Whittingham, former executive director of the Pembina Institute. The premier appointed Whittingham to serve on the Alberta Energy Regulator for a five-year term at $76,500 per year. As Corbella observes, this is the same person who stood beside Premier Notley when she introduced her onerous Climate Leadership Plan.

And it was Whittingham who pressured the Trudeau government and the National Energy Board to strike the death blow on the Energy East pipeline by requiring the “indirect CO2 emissions caused by the end users of Alberta’s oil and gas, instead of just the emissions caused by the pipeline itself.” Once again, defenders of the appointment are waving the flag of diversity to justify the appointment.
