Olivia Chow elected as Toronto’s mayor

Post by oneh2obabe »

Interesting bedfellows. For the first time in a long time Ontario has a:

Liberal Primer Minister
Conservative Premier
NDP Mayor
Voters in Toronto have elected Olivia Chow as mayor of Canada’s largest municipality.

In a race that saw a staggering 102 candidates, Global News projected Chow as the winner in Monday night’s byelection, garnering more than 260,000 votes as of 9 p.m.

Chow is a former NDP MP and was a city councillor for Toronto starting in the ’90s for more than a decade, with a long history in Canadian politics as a progressive left politician.

The 66-year-old beat out other top candidates like former Toronto police chief Mark Saunders, former city councillor Ana Bailao, current city councillors Josh Matlow and Brad Bradford, former Liberal provincial education minister Mitzie Hunter and right-wing columnist Anthony Furey.

Voters may come to regret that.
Chow is on record of wanting to decriminalize illicit drugs.

But being NDP that comes as no surprise.

It's impossible to elect the NDP and not have massive regrets. They are hot garbage. The mother lode of bad ideas.

If nothing else this should be very entertaining, chow vs ford.

20 minute walk between Toronto City Hall and Provincial Legislature.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests. I am an old cantankerousness grump that happens to be very opinionated.

Will we come to find that there was Beijing interference in this municipal election?

Seems that Communist China would be solidly behind the raving Communist Chow.

Yes, Chow is insane. I can see China being very happy with this outcome. How dumb is Toronto any way?

Is anyone surprised that the nutless CBC would do that? Just disgusting.

Toronto is full of kooks.

How awful - the public was interested in addressing daily realities.

What a surprise! Even Ontario peeps are concerned about high interest rates, ever rising food costs, lack of affordable living quarters….just like the rest of us.

Who’d have thought they’d forgo KlimateKrisesTM, and appeasing the Indigenous as firstbpriorities?
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.
