Yes, it's truly insulting that we get taxed up the wazoo for fairy tales, and then that money just goes out the door to the Ukraine. It's like a double kick in the groin from these disgusting Liberals.Catsumi wrote: ↑Jul 25th, 2023, 9:00 pm HG said
Hells bells! In the meantime, Putz ships over millions upon millions of our tax dollars and that is ok with you? Yelp about cluster bombs all you want, but without all of our cash, Ukrainians couldn’t buy them in the first place.hobbyguy wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:00 am
As the old rock song says: "paranoia runs deep".
The war in Ukraine indeed gets criticism. In fact our own Canadian government criticized the move to give Ukraine cluster bombs. There is a ton of criticism of Putin's insane war of aggression and tactics of civilian terroris
Anyone paying attention well knows that all the noise about supporting corrupt Zelensky has died down considerably, now that taxpayers see the bottom line of wasted funds that could have been put to much better use. Here. In Canada.

Parroting Putin's propaganda doesn't enhance your credibility.
Ukraine. like all countries has its issues, and corruption does crop up. Zelensky just fired a bunch of army recruiters for taking bribes. That said Ukraine IS a democracy, and that means that such issues do eventually come home to roost. Canada has a few such issues as well - Example: Doug Ford and his group just caught with their hands in the cookie jar over releasing greenbelt land for development.
This is why democracies have things like auditor generals to suss out such nonsense.
Contrast that with Putin's authoritarian kleptocracy and the previous pro-Putin Ukrainian president (and Putin prototege) Viktor Yanukovych https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-25182830
I can't believe you guys are so far off the rails that you are falling for the garbage propaganda that Putin's supporters put out there.
Supporting Ukraine in their courageous fight against the Russian criminals is the lowest cost option for Canada. Yes, Putin's criminal insanity is driving up our cost of living, but that is peanuts in comparison to blood Ukrainians expending and the damage that Putin's thugs are wrecking upon them. We can either support Ukraine and democracy or sit by like a bunch of feckless twerps and pay a much bigger price when Putin's thuggery arrives on our shores.
I for one am proud the be supporting democracy and Ukraine against the criminal Putin.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Just what would Canada do if Putin decided to set up shop in the Arctic…… absolutely nothing but run crying to the USA . Canada couldn’t deal with weather balloons , Good grief.

They would not be able to lean on protection from NATO, as they are non paying, members that the rest of the group are getting a little tired of having canada being free loaders.George Orwell 1984 wrote: ↑Aug 12th, 2023, 5:11 pm Just what would Canada do if Putin decided to set up shop in the Arctic…… absolutely nothing but run crying to the USA . Unless the statement is clarified, it could mean that Ukraine’s fighting forces were taking bribes to keep their sons OUT of the lineup to go to war. Gosh and gee, who on earth wouldn’t want their offspring sacrificed on the altar to the God of War?
Zelensky, [until the statement is clarified] got rid of those recruiters for NOT sending in those youngsters to be cannon fodder.
Is that the definition of a hero that we send billions of bucks to, to continue a hopeless war that could result in WW3?
This statement caught my attention.

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Yes NATO constantly calls out Canada for not paying their fair share which is constantly ignored followed by more Canadian equipment sent to Ukraine leaving us further in the hole . Hard to make any sense of it .liisgo wrote: ↑Aug 12th, 2023, 6:18 pmThey would not be able to lean on protection from NATO, as they are non paying, members that the rest of the group are getting a little tired of having canada being free loaders.George Orwell 1984 wrote: ↑Aug 12th, 2023, 5:11 pm Just what would Canada do if Putin decided to set up shop in the Arctic…… absolutely nothing but run crying to the USA . I have noted that with everything Canada ( jt) has given away over the past few years my standard of living has degraded . Why can’t the liberals focus on Canadians? Every single month is more costly than the last - fuel , groceries , everyday consumables and restaurant meals are ridiculously priced starting with the carbon tax that forces everything up . We went downtown for free entertainment in the plaza and decided to treat ourselves to ice cream which cost 26$ for three cones . What is the end game ?

Government is caught in this inflationary wave like everyone else, powerless to do anything significant about it without being branded "socialist" by political rivals. Seriously, what can be done without some government intervention ? The private sector has made it clear who they're in it for.
