Re: China snubs Canadian travelers
Last I checked with StatsCan, enrollment is decreasing among Canadians. International student enrolment is therefore needed if you want successful post-secondary schools.the truth wrote: ↑Aug 17th, 2023, 6:43 amexactlyBabba_not_Gump wrote: ↑Aug 16th, 2023, 4:18 pm

There are over 800,000 foreign students in Canada. How many are filling spots that should be taken by Canadian students?
And by all means, Chinese students should not be on that list.
Added. These 800,000+ also need places to live.

Most of those are from India and they are here for IT cources. Nothing that actually helps Canadians.Babba_not_Gump wrote: ↑Aug 16th, 2023, 4:18 pmfeatfan wrote: ↑Aug 16th, 2023, 9:23 am https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/china- ... -1.6936627
Excellent, now let's start with reducing any students from coming here for education.![]()

Why can't secondary institutions be "successful" without foreign students out-bidding Canadian students for seats?

Re: China snubs Canadian travelers
^^^^. Precisely
The more competition for education seats drives up the cost of obtaining a seat. This higher cost favours overseas students from wealthy families in the sweet spot and our students from average income families left out.
Yes, I understand that all that foreign money slipped into the universities’ pockets often goes towards new buildings, more of highly paid profs, and more overseas advertisements extolling the virtues of the campus, but does that increase the likelihood of Cdn students being accepted into these institutions?
When we are so incredibly short of doctors for one example, why are we training foreigns rather than our own?

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Foreign student should only be allowed a spot if it's not filled by a Canadian first.

Canadian government needs to tell Chinese nationals students pack your bags and go home, btw tell your CCP government to go
themselves.

The money paid by international students helps to subsidize and create seats for Canadian students.raft-cove wrote: Why can't secondary institutions be "successful" without foreign students out-bidding Canadian students for seats?

Chances are not 1 of these Canadian universities would be willing to have a transparent audit to see where international students money is actually going towards.steven lloyd wrote: ↑Aug 18th, 2023, 9:33 amThe money paid by international students helps to subsidize and create seats for Canadian students.raft-cove wrote: Why can't secondary institutions be "successful" without foreign students out-bidding Canadian students for seats?

Re: China snubs Canadian travelers
Chinese youth must be wondering what to do with education considering the extremely high unemployment rate in their age category. It is estimated to be as high as 46%. It is the end of China's economic model and hopefully the CCP.featfan wrote: ↑Aug 16th, 2023, 9:23 am https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/china- ... -1.6936627
