Hashtags, thoughts and prayers everyone. Hashtags, thoughts and prayers. Gun control and restriction on assault weapons won't do anything to save kids lives these days. Just send out those hashtags, thoughts and prayers and show the world how much you care about your AR15 assault weapon and we'll all feel so much better.

Omigod, 8 - 10 dead, all over again.

My mother taught in that school years ago and students that she is still connected with are recognizing the places the photos are coming from ... really bringing it home for people close ... and the platitudes from the Tweeter-in-chief really fall flat after his NRA speech the other week ... I wonder how the postulated gun control changes would have saved these kids this time?

And Americans still don't care. It's just their way of life and they won't do anything about it.

Expressions of sadness and heartbreak. But no action.

Almost 20 years since Columbine and what has changed? It's beyond ridiculous that this continues to happen. Changes need to be made.

Their love of guns is clearly bigger then their love of their children.

Their preferred method of solving the problem is to throw more guns at it. Yikes.

The majority of Americans do support stricter gun control laws ... but sadly the NRA has built up this huge armada of lobbyists that pay to thwart any efforts to do the right thing ...

The fallacy of representational government taken to the corrupt extreme ...

I watched the video and that guy just doesn't understand the situation that the US is in right now. He's totally oblivious as to the reality of how serious this situation is and how useless thoughts and prayers are to fixing it. He's just another example that speaks to how clueless Americans are to this. Years of thoughts and prayers have done nothing but to continue the patterns of school shootings. So yeah... thoughts and prayers are useless in this situation whether he wants to admit it or not.

He compares giving thoughts and prayers at a funeral to elected officials giving thoughts and prayers to school shooting victims, while at the same time doing nothing to try to help the situation.

If you mother or wife got killed in a car accident, it would be stupid and cry about people to get upset about people offering thought, prayers, condolences, etc. to you. Yes, they could lobby to get the intersection improved, but expressing sympathy or empathy for those involved is normal and the first step to finding solutions.

No surprise. Americans are the dumbest bunch of idiots on the planet, and they prove it on a regular basis. There is one mass shooting (defined as 4 or more people shot in one incident) in America every day. Every day. A great flood is what they need. imho

Maybe so, but if your grandmother gets killed. Then a few years later, at the same intersection, your mother is killed. Then, a few years later, your wife is killed. Then, predictably, a few years later your daughter is killed. And if, for each of these times the very people who could do anything about this, the people who were most able to fix the intersection, publicly sent their thoughts and prayers, and refused to do anything else, would you not at some point say enough is enough and ask for something more than just the perennial virtue signalling of publicly proclaimed thoughts and prayers? Might it not come to pass that you would tell them where to shove their virtue signalling and do something? I think that you might.

tl;dr: Prayer is a personal thing, and announcing it publicly does little except virtue signal. Sending condolences is hollow when you have repeatedly refused to take actions to prevent the deaths over which you're claiming to send condolences.

Darwinism at work. Too bad they're sacrificing the children first.
