at the end of this documentary the guy says there are a lot of poor people
living in the countryside, and a few rich. so that's why there's trouble - lots
of poor and a few rich.

As opposed to all the magical countries with fairies and unicorns, where there's a great number of rich people, and only 1 or 2 poor people.

here's where he'll veer off into telling you how great it is in Denmark, Sweden and Finland where the income tax rate is 98% and everyone is so happy they burst into song at every given opportunity. Heard it all before.

So we have concluded the oligarch billionaires in Russia cheated, stole
and even killed (as in the case of Nevzlin who is freely living in Israel)
but what about USA? Is USA any better?

from spiegel (German newspaper)
The political scientists analyzed statistics and studies concerning income development and other economic data from the last decades. They conclude that: "A generation ago, the United States was a recognizable, if somewhat more unequal, member of the cluster of affluent democracies known as mixed economies, where fast growth was widely shared. No more. Since around 1980, we have drifted away from that mixed-economy cluster, and traveled a considerable distance toward another: the capitalist oligarchies, like Brazil, Mexico, and Russia, with their much greater concentration of economic bounty."

Of course you sound like a big shot when you can come on forums and say how great the billionaires are.
I actually don't care if countries like Philippines have extreme rich and extreme poor. But from the perspective
of a decent human being, and not a selfish *bleep*, it's bad to have extreme rich and extreme poor.
According to the bible, there'll be a time when people are lovers of themselves, and lovers of money.
Maybe that's right now.

People have been lovers of themselves since the first human boy turned 13, and lovers of money since about 2 seconds after it was invented.

because in the simplistic mind of the 2011 socialist/communist/activist, anyone who has anything more than basic food and shelter is a scumbag/evil capitalist/environment-destroyer/sexist/fascist/racist/1% who should be giving all of his/her money away to the state so that the poor can be paid a minimum wage of $20 an hour, because everyone knows that the way to solve poverty is to pay everyone at least double what the market can bear. No one is allowed to have any money or own boats or drive nice cars or own a house over 1,000 sq feet or eat meat or consume fossil fuels or vote anything but for the Green party or the NDP - and the general rule is that any party but the NDP or Green gets into power then this means that there is no real "democracy" in Canada. The flipside of that coin - if only 30% of Canadians vote NDP or Green, but those parties still get into power, then we do somehow have real democracy, because the people they wanted in power are now in power. The people they want to win get in = real democracy - the people they don't want to win get in = fascism. I hope I summed it up for you.

That's about as ignorant a post as I've ever read on a forum.

:dyinglaughing:

The comment actually belongs in another thread somwhere else.

What the hell does it have to do with my thread about the filthy billionaires of Russia
where there are 20 million people in poverty?

In his own simplistic head, Greeny does have a point - it just doesn't have anything to do with my thread.

In Canada we kind of have a wonderful world, where people live in poverty
but it's still a thousand times better than the poverty of Brazil or Russia
or Philippines - so we consider it 'GREAT.' So for example, the Royal Bank makes
$5 billion profit, while gouging people with little dirty tricks, and flat out screwing
people over (like their penalty for paying off your mortage early - whoever
heard of a stinking penalty for paying a loan early) There is a lot of corrupt
things happening in Canada, but for the most part we enjoy what is being done to
us. We have our billionaires. And we have our people who work for an unfair slave wage
and everyone in Canada is happy.

But if Canada is only 50% corrupt, other rich countries are 95% corrupt. In Ukraine for example,
where people had dirt floors not long ago and 30% of people live in poverty, they've built expensive
stadiums and will host European Soccer Tournament - it's good big party for the rich - not so great for the one
in poverty. Just like in Penticton where the SOEC will cost a lot of money, and people who will never set foot
in the money wasting failure will be paying for it.

In the past, the greedy billionaires who traded slaves were considered the scumbags. Now, we've
been brainwashed into thinking the greedy scumbag billionaires are a god, who give us life, and give us jobs,
and give us money by the trickle down method. if a greedy scumbag billionaire like Abramovich
spends $5 million on a yacht while 20 million people live in poverty, he's a hero, for making jobs.

:dyinglaughing:

Yeah. Funny world we live in.

I use the Royal Bank, and they provide great service, even when I travel to other countries. These services cost money. I pay them, gladly. If you don't like it, don't use the Royal Bank, use a Credit Union. It's pretty simple.

so if it costs them money and they still make 5 billion then that's not considered gouging? how much do a bunch of shareholders who sign a ceed paper need to make?

Studies show poverty = poor health.

That's another reason I despise the stinking rich. It's not just a new car they're robbing
from those millions of poor people, but it's a lifetime of health problems the poor
must live with, so the extremely wealthy can have yachts.

I would make 'greed' illegal. It could be done very simply.
