Of course there are those who think CNN makes up stuff and maybe an earthquake didn't really happen if it's on CNN, so here's the back up:

^^Interesting footage if you scroll down in the Fox piece (swimming pools, scoreboards etc.)

The area has received a lot of after shocks in last day, here is link (ranging from .5 upwards)

Hi Gordon,

In your opinion, is there an increase in strong earthquakes recently?
NASA and other scientists make a connection to solar minimums, and potentially even worse volcano and earthquake activity pending a coming grand solar minimum. Some scientists say there is no connection.

I'm not a scientist, I suspect how our planet is effected by unseen forces from the Sun, Moon and our nearest neighbouring planets. More likely could effect earths tectonic plates and fault lines within those plates.

Of course again I am not an expert, just someone who watches in amazement how this planet is constantly changing i.e India is still pushing northwards.

Added: go back to the quake in 2011 in Japan and how it caused a shift of parts of Japan

Friday’s magnitude 7.1 earthquake near Ridgecrest, California, was nothing to sneeze at. The shake, which triggered gas leaks, power outages, and fires, was felt from San Diego to Sacramento. And it ripped open a new fissure in the Earth that didn’t escape the notice of humanity’s ever-growing satellite fleet.

Before-and-after imagery captured by Planet Labs Inc. on July 4 and 6, respectively, shows a gash appearing in the ground roughly 10 miles northeast of Ridgecrest, California, pretty much exactly above the location of the magnitude 7.1 quake.

(Slide the white vertical bar in the center of the image back and forth to see the before and after.)

Very cool. I wonder what that square section is, house? Compound? I bet who ever owns is having a few sweats.

I think it's a field. I've zoomed in (the image showing the fissure is oriented sideways, with north pretty much on the left-hand side and east along the top.) We can zoom in quite a bit more and take a look around.
https://www.google.com/maps/@35.8014799 ... a=!3m1!1e3
Not much in the area.
The before/after seems to show significant disturbance (upthrust?) along what would be the west side of the curved feature (south in the before/after), although I suppose it may only be covered by cloud in the "before".

If you open google earth (35.8009264,-117.6139667) and move north to left, you will be able match the link perfectly
