Ukraine is broke, and undertook a war on that portion of the country that provided 30% of GDP. Now a draft, for an army, for a war, for a government that will - get this - implement IMF/EU *austerity*.

Michael Hudson, an economist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and author of the upcoming book “Killing the Host: Financial Parasites and Wall Street’s War on Capitalism,” says the terms attached to the loans made by the IMF to Ukraine are likely to turn its people into penniless serfs of international banks.

In the video above, Sharmini Peries at The Real News Network asks Hudson, “In a recent interview [by former State Department official James Carden] published in The National Interest magazine you said that most media covers Russia as if it is the greatest threat to Ukraine. History suggests that the IMF may be far more dangerous. What did you mean by that?”

Hudson responds, “Well, the terms on which the IMF make loans, first of all, are based on austerity. The terms require more austerity and a withdrawal of all public subsidies. Now, you have the Ukrainian population absolutely devastated. The only result of the IMF’s austerity program, the conditions that it’s laying down for making loans to Ukraine, is you have to repay the debts, but you don’t have the ability to repay the debts. So there’s only one way to do it, and that’s the way that we’ve told Greece and other countries to do. You have to begin selling off whatever you have left of your public domain. Or you have to have your leading oligarchs take on partnerships with American or European investors so that they can buy out into the monopolies in the Ukraine.

“So essentially, the IMF has a two stage, one-two punch. Punch number one is: ‘Here’s the money, now you have to repay us after cutting back public spending and causing a depression.’ The two punch is: ‘Oh, you can’t pay us? I’m sorry that all of our projections are wrong.’

“And the IMF has been wrong on Ukraine year after year. Almost as much as it’s been wrong on Ireland and on Greece. So now the real problem is: what is Ukraine going to have to sell to pay off the foreign debts that it gets for having waged a war that’s devastated an economy. Well, the main things that foreign investors want are Ukrainian farmland. Monsanto has been buying into Ukraine, but Ukraine has a law against alienating its farmland and agricultural land to foreigners. As a matter of fact, its law is very much the same as what the Financial Times reports that Australia is wanting to do today: to block Chinese and American purchases of farmlands. The IMF’s position is: ‘You have to dismantle public regulations against foreign investment and you have to dismantle consumer production and environmental production regulations.’

“In other words, what is in store for Ukraine is a neoliberal policy that’s guaranteed to actually make it even worse. And in that sense, finance is war. Finance is a new kind of warfare using finance and forced selloffs in the IMF as a new kind of battlefield. I’m not sure how all of this is going to really help Ukraine, and it promises to lead to yet another crisis down the road, very, very quickly.”

Maybe Thinktank can fix the world's problems with his brand Of neo-nazism - get rid of all the Jews and non-whites, and call the Muslims honorary whites. According to Thinktank, the IMF is bad because it is run by Jews.
Putin is a murderous dictator bent on repeating Hitler's mistake. If left alone, Putin will start building death camps to kill of Jews, Ukrainians, Crimean Tartars, and GLBT people.

Those rats in the government that murdered ten million Ukrainians must have been smart.
How did they get away with it?

Toronto Symphony Orchestra Goes Full Stalin

Ukrainian-born, North Carolina-dwelling pianist Valentina Lisitsa is an impressive talent. Most recently she released albums of Rachmaninov Concertos and works by Liszt on Decca Records. She is known for developing a massive following with the savvy use of social media like YouTube. In 2012 she sold out the Royal Albert Hall in an event that was also live-streamed to 100,000 people.

However, it was also on social media that she committed an unpardonable political crime that led the thought police in Canada to cancel an upcoming performance and offer to pay her as if she played if she would just keep her mouth shut about being blacklisted.

Thankfully she refused.

What was Lisitsa's crime? As she explained today on Facebook, the Kiev native was not at all happy that a coup government had taken power in her home country and was bombing its citizens in eastern Ukraine. She was particularly incensed about mendacious and one-sided western coverage of the events in Ukraine, so she responded to many of these media outlets forcefully and persuasively. For example, when the French version of Elle magazine ran a photo shoot glorifying female neo-Nazi militia members in Ukraine, Lisitsa sent the magazine evidence of their glamorized young girl's abhorrent ideology.

The magazine did issue a written apology, but in her success Lisitsa made many enemies among those powerful individuals who back the US/UK/Canada enterprise in Ukraine. So they took to a Soviet-style whispering campaign to discredit her. The smear-bund worked among what passes for cultural leaders in Canada. She was axed from performing this week with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra due to what Symphony president Jeff Melanson claimed were "ongoing accusations of deeply offensive language."

As might be expected in such a Soviet-style atmosphere, the pianist was not even afforded the opportunity to face her accusers -- or even to know who they were. “Someone in the orchestra’s top management, likely after the pressure from a small but aggressive lobby claiming to represent the Ukrainian community, has made a decision that I should not be allowed to play,” she writes, referring to her scheduled TSO performances on Wednesday and Thursday. “I don’t even know who my accusers are, I am kept in the dark about it.”

Pointing out that Elle was glorifying Nazis earned her a Toronto Symphony Orchestra blacklist.

Toronto Symphony Orchestra president Jeff Melanson sounds like a perfect little commie commissar when he sniffs:

As one of Canada’s most important cultural institutions our priority must remain on being a stage for the world’s great works of music, and not for opinions that some believe to be deeply offensive.

In other words, a musician must primarily be judged not by her talent, but by her adherence to the party line. Politics first.

As the Soviet Communist Party theoretical magazine Kommunist wrote in 1954, the artist must be above all subject to an ideological test:

The artist who deviates from social realism serves interest alien to the proletariat and to his creative effort.

So we are "back in the USSR" in Canada, eh?

If you're Ukrainian, and you have pro-russian views, then you are a traitor. Canada is an ally to Ukraine, Russia is an enemy. In a civilized society, invading a foreign country, and sponsoring terrorism is a gross violation of international law.

Thinktank does not seem to think so. We have people in Canada who benefit from Canadian values, and all that our society has to offer, but support people like ISIS, Hezbollah, and Russia terrorizing its neighbours. That is not right.

Good on Toronto Symphony for declaring her persona non grata. Citizenship and Immigration Canada should do the same too.

Just the thought of Ukrainians and Russians hating each other would make certain people excited.
But to actually see them kill each other (in a war) - that would make a warmonger absolutely delighted.
It would be heavenly.

Yet 1/3 of Ukraine sees Russia as a friend, just like Sheila and most Canadians see Israel as a friend.

Nothing wrong with that. 1/3 of Ukraine sees Canada and goof Harper as an enemy.

Amnesty and the UN are a joke though, that's the problem.
If you see someone using the term "dimples", you are dealing with a bonehead.

there's no limit to corruption. Rich billionaire takes $millions from poor Ukrainians to give
to Clintons - rich Americans.

From 2009 up to 2013, the year the Ukrainian crisis erupted, the Clinton Foundation received at least $8.6 million from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, which is headquartered in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, a new report claims.
