With recent happens at Vancouver Aquarium

Should wild animals be capture and placed in artificial surroundings just for our own amusement & curiosity.

The one and only Beluga they have left was taken from the wild. Wonder what they'll do when she's gone which hopefully happens soon for her sake, what a horrible life it must be.

Aurora was the last one taken from the wild over 25 years ago so there won't be any more.

I personally don't agree with any animals being held in captivity, unless they are brought in injured and are unable to survive in the wild once healthy.
What a sad it must be for these large animals to be kept in pools, especially captured from the wild but even just breed in captivity like the offspring who died was. I was always saddened going to the Vancouver aquarium, especially with the dolphins. They were just held in a large pool with no effort in creating a "wild life" environment for them.

We should only keep animals captive if they are endangered and in need of conservation or if they are adequately given what they need (reserves or sanctuaries, not zoos or aquariums)

I don't agree with you about keeping endangered animals in captivity. The reason being because they still rarely survive.
There has to be better ways to protect them in some cases. As much as I hate to say this, in my opinion the best method is often lead poisoning to human poachers.

Well I am one of the rare people that would much prefer human death over animal death.
If there were a magical way to kill all poachers and everyone who consumes (not just kills or trades, but consumes) animals for idiotic reasons (like tiger penis, shark fin soup, pangolin scales, etc...) then I'd be on board.
Since we probably never will stop the disgusting acts of killing off thousands of species, it's best to aim for conservation of any sort

Seeing as how we have a dolphin sculpture in Kelowna, we should introduce dolphins to the lake. They'd be great entertainment plus they'd be a great attraction for tourists. Imagine being able to advertise playing with smiling dolphins at the Okanagan beaches. A real draw!

Why would you go then and support this zoo by giving them money?

Hopefully Vancouver Aquarium does not replace the whale, imo the aquarium should just fade away.
Only continue helping injured whales & other animals along BC coast.
