Trump: new office protects doctors who refuse abortions

Post by oneh2obabe »

WASHINGTON—Reinforcing its strong connection with social conservatives, the Trump administration announced Thursday a new federal office to protect medical providers refusing to participate in abortion, assisted suicide or other procedures on moral or religious grounds.

Leading Democrats and LGBT groups immediately denounced the move, saying “conscience protections” could become a license to discriminate, particularly against gay and transgender people.

The announcement by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) came a day ahead of the annual march on Washington by abortion opponents, who will be addressed via video link by U.S. President Donald Trump. HHS put on a formal event in the department’s Great Hall, with Republican lawmakers and activists for conscience protections as invited speakers.

Poll: Majority says Trump's first year in White House was a failure

A majority of Americans in a new poll views President Trump's first year in office as a failure.

An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds 53 percent of Americans view Trump's first year in the White House as a failure. About one-third view Trump's first year as a "major failure."

Forty percent of Americans, however, view Trump's first year in office as a success or a major success.

It's getting hard to tell the right-wing media from satire these days.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

An interesting article and definitely one for those who are worried that the likes of Soros are manipulating politics, governments and the population at large, to get their own ends:

So the government has shut down.
Well, Trump did say he was going to run government like he runs his businesses.

Apparently talks are continuing this weekend but ...
But the White House drew a hard line immediately after midnight, saying they would not negotiate over a central issue — immigration — until government funding is restored.

“We will not negotiate the status of unlawful immigrants while Democrats hold our lawful citizens hostage over their reckless demands,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. “This is the behavior of obstructionist losers, not legislators. When Democrats start paying our armed forces and first responders we will reopen negotiations on immigration reform.”

Well if anyone knows anything about being "obstructionist losers" it's the GOP.

I'm not even saying the USA doesn't have an illegal immigration problem. So does Europe. It's an invasion over there. Donald Trump can see the writing on the wall so to speak. Someone has to get a handle on what the hell is going on. But 25B for a wall that won't work?

On the other hand. There go the democrats chances to take back the house

While these government shutdowns are nothing new, apparently this is the first time it has happened when a single party controls the White House and both houses of congress.
The Donald needs to examine the lack of support he is getting from his own party before he starts slinging mud at the Dems.

Something he and his diehard supporters (the dwindling number that remain) will never be able to do. This is no longer a partisan issue, its a matter of more and more people from both sides of the aisle realizing they have an imbecile in office and the country is in real trouble. There is still a really good chance Trump will be removed before the end of his term.
