Slippery slope . Liberal today does not have same meaning as it did in 1650 etc . As a good example . All of the American founding fathers would have called themself liberals . Today they might not be seen as such
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

I'm sure I'll find the same to support my assertion of Conservatives too! :D

Lets all agree that there are very smart & not so smart people on both side of the left & right. Usually the very smart ones stay away from becoming not so smart politicians (on both left & right).

The trend to find bottom of the barrel politicians on both sides continues to do very well.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

No. Only ones I found were references to a satire article, and debunked one and ones which equated Democrat with liberal and Republican with conservative (which is a false equivalence).

Actually, were they to have been born in recent decades and brought up in modern society, I have no doubt that they would have been the freethinkers that they were seen as in their time. They would almost certainly be liberal, even today.

Having read most of this thread I am amazed at the "snowflake" conservatives complaining because universities don't fit their idea of what universities should be but lets think about this for a moment. Conservatives are well represented at universities but seem to feel they are hard done by. Lets think about the faculties that are likely conservative already. How about accounting? Maybe not a lot of liberals there. How about MBA with an economics major? Or engineering? Probably hard to find too many liberals. Or how about medicine. I've dealt with lots of doctors over the the year and my experience is about 50/50. How about anything to do with the oil business? Likely no liberals there at all. And I'm sure there are lots more where conservative ideology is well represented not to mention the Conservative's party dunking all kinds of activities ON CAMPUS! About which no conservatives complain but want to vehemently deny anyone else the same privileges.

So maybe it's time we figured out what's really going on here. Conservative right wingers want it all their own way and are not willing to recognize the parts of universities that are already conservative. Maybe there are just as many "conservative" faculties as there are "liberal" ones but of course right wingers refuse to recognize that and continue to trumpet only one line. Maybe it's time we called the complainers on both sides for their single mindedness.

Feminist Professors Urge Scholars Not To Cite White Men in Research to Fight Racism

Image

Feminist geographers are urging their fellow scholars in academia to think twice before citing a research paper written by a white man, claiming it contributes to “white heteromasculinity”.

Rutgers University professor Carrie Mott and University of Waterloo professor Daniel Cockayne have penned an academic journal article arguing that scholars ought to consider an author’s gender, race or sexuality before citing their work.

There are lots of evidence that correlates liberalism with higher IQs, irrespective of which political party one votes for.

Firstly, what does this video have to do with my comment? You still haven't provided an reasonable evidence that statistically liberalism does not correlate with higher IQs. Don't worry, I don't think you will be able to.

But on to the video. So what? You find a few idiots, video them and call it good. This proves nothing except that the individuals in this hypothetical video are idiots. Finding idiots is really easy. They are everywhere, from colleges to bars, from cafés to the Internet. I'm sure with most large enough groups, there is bound to be a few idiots. Do this among a large enough group of mechanics, or oil patch workers, etc. edit out the smarter answers and post it up.

I see this kind of "journalism" by a lot of right "news" media, such as The Rebel. It's not journalism, it's pathetic. It's like taking seriously those "humour" pieces one sometimes sees where they ask American's about the rest of the World and then make fun of Americans in general because they found a few idiots. The sad part is that this "journalism" seems to work on some.

Finally, from looking at your post history, it seems that you struggle with understanding socialism. So, maybe you'd fit in in college and maybe you could learn what socialism is while you are there :D

:spitcoffee: OMG! You are the undisputed reigning king of irony joe! You have no idea what a Liberal Arts education entails (would probably not know Stephen Harper became Prime Minister with a Liberal Arts degree – economics), and like all your buddies who dismiss any idea different than your own as “leftist nonsense”, wouldn’t be able to recognize a socialist or communist if one came walking up to your trailer door with a red flag as a cape carrying a hammer and a scythe.
