Republicans continue to Walk Away from Trump
We are now up to 38 republican congressmen who will not be defending their seats come the November elections. The latest being Chris Collins.
Collins, unlike those republicans with a backbone who have deliberately walked away from Trump, remains devoted to his dear leader. In fact Collins was the very first congressman to throw his support behind Trump. Now however:
Interesting...how does abandoning your party help Trump’s agenda?
Welp another one bites the dust.

After extensive discussions with my family and my friends over the last few days, I have decided it is in the best interests of the constituents of NY-27, the Republican Party and President Trump’s agenda for me to suspend my campaign for re-election to Congress.

NBC News: Rep. Christopher Collins of New York has been arrested and indicted on charges tied to securities fraud. He surrendered himself to the FBI this morning.
Welp another one bites the dust.

Politicians are all so honorable.
Now if only Trump would take the hint.

I'd like to see Trump ride through his term with not too much damage to us and the rest of the world, then get voted out.
Pence is in some ways worse, bit of a freak. Republicans need a full reset

Both parties do. Both are falling apart. If you honestly think the Democrats are in any better shape right now, you have been reading too much Buzzfeed.

Nope. I’m just going off the actual factual information.
See for yourself:
https://ballotpedia.org/List_of_U.S._Co ... on_in_2018
38 republicans not seeking re-election vs 18 Democrats.
So while you say “if you think the democrats are in any better shape” I look at those numbers and see that if we’re going by the topic of this thread, the republicans are in twice as bad shape.

I don't know how you can support this idiot. I still can't believe to this day, that we ended up with Hillary and Trump as the main options. How sad for America.
I think the majority of them want to walk away from Trump, but can't say so publicly right now or they risk rocking the party too badly and/or losing their own voters. Someone else with class and decorum needs to lead the Right, but I don't see how they can implement a change smoothly.
No idea who will come up in the left. I pray to God it isn't Hillary again. I think Bernie would have beaten Trump, but might not do so anymore if he runs again with the leftist media kind of attacking socialism lately.
I'd like to see Gary Johnson make a solid run in the next election. He was my #1 choice in 2016 (as if I had a vote), but I knew he'd never get major backing.

Re: Republicans continue to Walk Away from Trump
The only hope the Republicans have at regaining any credibility or relevance is to impeach Trump. No matter what the argument of how important it was to defeat Hillary (despite the fact she won the popular vote by three million votes), it was the Republicans who allowed this goof to become their candidate and it is their responsibility that he now sits in the White House. This so-called presidency has disgraced America on the world stage and it will be a long time before they are “great” again.

Re: John McCain …
Everything Donald trump is not. If only McCain's passing could inspire enough of his colleagues to remember they serve a higher calling, that they work for the people, and that honor (if they are to retain any) and a true desire to do the right thing for their country requires them to remove the goof now sitting in the Whitehouse. The time for impeachment is here.
… he carried himself with class and honor and a true desire to do the right thing for his country and the people not for his own gain or advancement. He was one of the last of his kind in US politics.
