Men insecure about manhood more likely to support Trump

Men insecure about manhood more likely to support Trump

Postby Omnitheo » Dec 1st, 2018, 5:10 pm

I know we all kind of suspected as much, however there is now research validating those suspicions.

https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2018/12/ ... ump-voters
In the latest result of research about modern voting trends that will surprise absolutely nobody, it turns out that men who are insecure about their masculinity—that is, who suffer from "fragile" masculinity—are more likely to be Donald Trump supporters.

We began by selecting a set of search topics that we believed might be especially common among men concerned about living up to the ideals of manhood: “erectile dysfunction,” “hair loss,” “how to get girls,” “penis enlargement,” “penis size,” “steroids,” “testosterone” and “Viagra.”

[...]

We found that support for Trump in the 2016 election was higher in areas that had more searches for topics such as “erectile dysfunction.”

Peculiarly, or not, this feature appears to be unique to Donald Trump himself. The researchers report that no such correlation exists for Mitt Romney or John McCain voters; there's something about Donald Trump personally, then, that screams out "This is the candidate for men who are concerned about the size and functionality of their man parts."

I guess people with small parts just flocked to the candidate with the smallest parts themself.

That's a funny post. I laughed when I saw who initiated it.

I think those who voted for Trump are no different then those who voted Trudeau in. They did not do their homework.

Not that I care either way about this kind of thread, but that's quite the source you're quoting from.

You're starting to sound like some of the far right members on the board who post idiotic links from places like Breitbart

Google trends?

Don’t blame me or Daily Kos that trump supporters do a lot of searching for male enhancement solutions.

Heck, they were gullible enough to buy into his campaign promises that they probably also respond to those spam emails they get making such claims.

I think this kinda goes hand in hand with Alex Jones and his “virility supplements”

According the article though, the same trend does not apply to others like McCain or Romney. The trend actually appears unique to trump.

Also if it were only old white guys the trend shouldn’t persist with things like “how do I get a girlfriend”

I don’t think anybody is really surprised, many trump supporters hoard guns to make themselves feel more like Rambo, some are desperate to be alpha male patriots and start taking up nationalist beliefs to do so. He won the uneducated and the insecure vote that’s for sure.

Not true, more like poorly educated people are his followers.

Hmmm, seems to be typical of the kind of research non-Trump supporters also use to validate climate change. Then you have, Non-Trump supporters insecure about Trump supporters.

Care to explain that position?

Climate change is acknowledged by the overal scientific community and public as fact due to a plethora of peer reviewed work corroborated across multiple fields and easily observable with data.

Meanwhile this research about the inadequacies of Trump supporters was done by looking at search trends. Sadly it will be difficult to corroborate as few people will ever see what’s beneath the trousers of most trump supporters.
