Hungary for love!

Post by Glacier »

Hungary's prime minister has announced a raft of measures aimed at boosting the country's declining birth rate and reducing immigration.

Giving his annual State of the Nation address Sunday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced a seven-point "Family Protection Action Plan" designed to promote marriage and families.

Measures announced included waivers on personal income tax for women raising at least four children for the rest of their lives and subsidies for large families to buy larger cars. The 'action plan' also extended a loan program to help families with at least two children to buy homes. Every woman under 40 will also be eligible for a preferential loan when she first gets married.

Have 4 Babies, Pay No Income Tax FOR LIFE! - Hungarian PM Viktor Orban

“It is about our future. It means if we will last as Hungarians, as Hungary or cease to exist. Many Western states, choose [migration] as a solution, in Hungary, we think that that should not be a solution for the demographic challenges." - Katalina Novak, Hungary’s state secretary for families

Hungary Shows the West the Path to Survival

Just as they resisted communism, so too are they leading the charge against the radical open-borders project.

A specter is haunting the European Union—the specter of Eastern Europe. Hungary is a country slightly more populous than Virginia, and its population diminishes slightly every year. It receives substantial subsidies from richer EU countries, produces nice wines, but has little industry not tied to German auto plants. Its military has roughly zero external intervention capability.

And yet in Europe, Hungary is always in the headlines. The glossy French center-right weekly Le Point warns with alarm that Hungary’s president Viktor Orbán “outlines the shape of another Europe.” A few months ago, the European Parliament subjected Orbán’s government to a sort of trial under “Article 7,” a process that could lead to Hungary being denied its parliamentary voting rights. Le Point (again) speaks ominously of a menacing “axis” between Poland, Hungary, and the new populist government of Italy.

Interesting proposal from Hungary. Couple of questions arise though:

How much will the taxes go up for those who choose not to have 4 children? Sounds like a costly initiative vs letting in some immigrants who already could have 4 kids. How many will hit the school systems and health care at the same points in life?(article says they are creating more jobs) How will this burden be paid for, More taxes most likely. How will they control the system to make sure people are having 4 kids and providing minimal care, just to get the tax incentive?

Exactly, I was just surprised the support of this from those who are typically anti government / social programs and increased taxes.

You would be surprised what some groups would support to have a deviant concept take a small step forward. Think KKK?

The KKK is not a right-wing organization. Never have been. They have always supported big government.

I'm not entirely sure what you were saying.
