President Joe Biden again proves that Democrats are the only American party that cares about fighting terrorism by ridding the world of one of the most awful terrorist leaders. The world celebrated when Obama got the leader of Al Qaeda, then the world was saddened by Biden's predecessor sheepishly releasing the leader of the Taliban. And now the world again can celebrate a success by the Democrats with the defeat of the leader of ISIS.

Thank you President Biden for showing the world that Democrats are the only American party working to fight global terrorism! :130:
Tense moments in Situation Room as Biden oversaw raid on ISIS leader that was months in the making

President Joe Biden watched in real time Wednesday as US commandos landed in Syria to raid a three-story home, surrounded by olive trees, where the top leader of ISIS was living with his wife and members of his family.
From the head of the Situation Room table, Biden watched anxiously as an American helicopter suffered mechanical problems on the ground.
There was relief in the room when children emerged from the first floor of the building, running to safety.

Moments later, an explosion rocked the site: a suicide detonation that killed Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, his wife and his children, blowing their bodies outside the building and onto the surrounding land.

The details of how Biden monitored the raid came from senior administration officials, who recounted it in detail on Thursday morning. Their description was of a successful operation that took out a critical terror leader while avoiding any American casualties. The US officials insisted the only civilian casualties were those caused by the leader himself when he blew apart his residence with his family inside.

It was the highest-profile counter-terror operation of Biden's tenure, and officials appeared intent on using it to cast the President in a decisive light. In some ways, it mirrored raids ordered by Biden's two predecessors to take out terror leaders in their homes, each of which was monitored in real time on a secure feed.
..

Biden emerged midmorning to deliver a brief statement about the mission from the White House Roosevelt Room.

"This operation is a testament to America's reach and capability to take out terrorist threats no matter where they try to hide anywhere in the world," he said, issuing a message to terrorists who are still at large: "We will come after you and find you."

More details about President Joe Biden's amazing work to rid the world of terrorism.

Thanks, Joe! :130:
Biden describes a risky Special Forces raid designed to minimize civilian casualties.

As he declared the success of the U.S. operation to kill the leader of the Islamic State, President Biden said Thursday that the raid had relied on commandos rather than airstrikes to try to minimize civilian casualties.

Speaking in the Roosevelt Room at the White House, Mr. Biden said Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi was behind a series of atrocities, including against the Yazidi people.

Mr. Biden said he “made a choice to pursue a Special Forces raid at a much greater risk to our own people,” rather than to order an airstrike that would have destroyed the entire building. That was a similar calculation to the one made in killing of the leader of Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, in 2011, an operation that Mr. Biden had opposed at the time as too risky for American troops. His approval of this operation suggested he was now more comfortable with using Special Forces in such assaults.

Mr. Biden’s comments were the culmination of an operation that had its roots in intelligence findings last year that Mr. al-Qurayshi was living in a house in northwest Syria, near the Turkish border. That triggered the assembly of an operation similar to those had unfolded in the bin Laden killing , and the 2019 killing of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the previous leader of the Islamic State.

For Mr. Biden, the success of the operation was particularly important: After the Taliban took over Afghanistan last year, forcing the United States and its allies to evacuate the country, there was widespread concern that ISIS would see a new opportunity to retake territory. The director of the C.I.A., William Burns, told Congress that efforts to collect intelligence about local ISIS operations could suffer.

Biden’s BS about Gun-Manufacturer Immunity from Suit

One of the President Biden’s most unappealing attributes — a lot to work with here — is his penchant for incanting, with painfully off-key conviction, the dullest of left-wing whoppers as if they hadn’t been blown up eons ago.

This was on maddening display yesterday during his speech in New York City. Biden’s rambling remarks attended his meeting with new mayor Eric Adams and a visit to NYPD headquarters just days after officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora were laid to rest following their brutal murders by a career criminal while answering a call in Harlem.

The show of presidential support for police in a time of rising crime would have been more effective had Biden attended one of the officers’ funerals at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. But the ambivalence, at best, of left-lurched Democrats and their radical allies when it comes to backing the blue has also been on maddening display. Black Lives Matters just complained — in connection with yet another recent attack on police, this time in Washington, D.C. — about the public’s propensity to hail as “heroes” cops shot in the line of duty; meantime, a Manhattan actress complained that the thousands of cops and other mourners who poured into the streets for the 22-year-old Officer Rivera’s funeral made it harder for her to get around. (The actress, Jacqueline Guzman, was let go by her company, Face to Face Films, after ranting on Tik Tok that the city shouldn’t shut down over “one f***ing cop” who was “probably doing his job incorrectly. They kill people who are under 22 every single day for no good reason and we don’t shut down the city for them.”)

Opinion: Biden’s agenda has been reset. His political fortunes may change, too.

A scant couple of weeks ago, President Biden’s first-year reviews were coming in, and the mainstream media were panning his performance. They focused almost entirely on recent legislative defeats, inflation (but not on record job growth) and the surge in coronavirus cases thanks to the omicron variant (even though vaccinated and boosted American were largely free from the fear of hospitalization or death). Meanwhile, the administration refused to shift priorities.

Then a whole lot changed.

Presidents are often victims of events over which they have little to no control. But they are also sometimes handed opportunities that only a president can address, leaving their opponents flummoxed. In Biden’s case, a trio of issues landed in his lap: the heightened threat from Russia, the opportunity to eliminate the Islamic State’s top leader and an opening on the Supreme Court. These items now dominate the headlines, giving Biden a chance to flex his presidential muscles and leaving critics grasping for an effective response.

As Biden forged an impressive alliance to defend Ukraine and maintained the principle that Russia cannot dictate which nations join NATO, many Republicans issued cringeworthy suggestions that the United States should appease Russian President Vladimir Putin. After Biden’s rocky withdrawal from Afghanistan, this was a chance for the commander in chief to shine and draw a sharp contrast with his predecessor, who groveled before his authoritarian role model in Moscow.

Biden is extremely anti-progressive. The Interior Secretary who hates all mines has killed a rare earth metal mine. The metals from these mines are for batteries, turbines, and solar panels. Whatever the future of mobility looks like, there won't be much of it. Trump had renewed these leases, Biden has cancelled them. Come on Biden, we need 10x more, not 10x less.

Not really, mining those rare earth metals is dirty business and wrecks the environment. Let China wreck theirs and we reap the reward. In case their is any whining about......but....but....they will cut us off.......they've tried that in the past and that strategy failed spectacularly in the recent past.

Not that I care so much about solar panels and wind turbines, but an increasing dependence on China is not wanted, not to mention the Americans can do it more cleanly. This just makes the path to 'getting there' and sustaining it, longer. So Joe wants a greater dependence on China?

Yup, rare earth metals are not environmentally friendly but there are trade-offs if you want to build 100 times more wind or EV motors, and batteries. I thought you wanted to get rid of CO2? Is CO2 the earth-ending catastrophic disaster waiting to happen in 18 months? (laughing under my breath - LUMB) Too much CO2? Who cares about a little hole in the dirt? You're trying to build a massive new generation of technology without materials.

Same with plastic straws. Apparently it is ok to put 4x more CO2 in the air, to make paper/wax straws that for many people is ZERO use.

Joe's smarter than that....he knows, China's influence as the sole supplier of rare earth metals is waning, so why bother starting new mines in the US?
While China maintains a commanding presence within the global rare earth industry, Beijing’s capacity to unilaterally disrupt supply chains is likely to be eroded in the coming years. A number of initiatives are underway that may prove successful at establishing new rare earth suppliers outside of China. Shifting market dynamics are likely to aid these efforts.

There are already signs that other players have started to chip away at China’s dominance in certain areas. Mining of raw rare earth materials outside of China has ramped up significantly in recent years as the US’ Mountain Pass mine, and other mines around the world, have increased their output. China’s share of global mining production has slipped as a result, from a high of 97.7 percent in 2010 to 62.9 percent in 2019 – the lowest point since 1995. China’s share of global rare earth reserves has likewise fallen from 50 percent to 36.7 percent over the same period.3

When Klaus Schwab was telling the world his organization had successfully "penetrated" the Canadian cabinet, he didn't mention having the U.S. in his pocket. When we see this and consider the puppetry involved, we have to wonder how much his organization was able to impact the U.S. election. Certainly goes some way to explaining how Joe Biden got to be leader.

I'm pretty sure the American people were just tired of the Criminal in Chief after 4 years. Everybody had "Trump fatigue" and that's why President Biden was elected.

Once again you revise history incorrectly. Obama was in power for 8 years.

No, the Dems stuffed ballot box, not totally illegally, but will not be able to do it again, as the Supreme Courts have now outlawed the activity that got the senile idiot Joe elected. He won't be able to just sit in a basement again like last time. The only people who had "Trump fatigue" were fools stuck in their far Left echo chambers.

This is what happens when you stuff the ballot boxes and elect a doddering old fool as president - botched withdrawals etc. And for anyone who wants to insert some off-topic deflection about Trump (yet again) into this thread about Biden and his mass stupidity, forget it. Even the WaPo, one of the biggest Democrat mouthpieces, is hanging the mass failure of the Afghanistan withdrawal on Biden's dithering and stupidity. And rightly so.

Any mention of Trump in response to this post will be reported as off topic. Because it is.
Documents reveal U.S. military’s frustration with White House, diplomats over Afghanistan evacuation

Senior White House and State Department officials failed to grasp the Taliban’s steady advance on Afghanistan’s capital and resisted efforts by U.S. military leaders to prepare the evacuation of embassy personnel and Afghan allies weeks before Kabul’s fall, placing American troops ordered to carry out the withdrawal in greater danger, according to sworn testimony from multiple commanders involved in the operation.

An Army investigative report, numbering 2,000 pages and released to The Washington Post through a Freedom of Information Act request, details the life-or-death decisions made daily by U.S. soldiers and Marines sent to secure Hamid Karzai International Airport as thousands converged on the airfield in a frantic bid to escape.

Beyond the bleak, blunt assessments of top military commanders, the documents contain previously unreported disclosures about the violence American personnel experienced, including one exchange of gunfire that left two Taliban fighters dead after they allegedly menaced a group of U.S. Marines and Afghan civilians. In a separate incident a few days later, U.S. troops killed a member of an elite Afghan strike unit that had joined the operation and wounded six others after they fired on the Americans.

Such great presdiential words from President Joe Biden. Americans are so fortunate to have such an amazing leader after having to deal with the orange manchild for the prior 4 years.

Great work, Joe!! :130:
Biden tells LGBTQ children 'you are loved and accepted just as you are' after Florida advances 'Don't Say Gay' bill

President Joe Biden on Tuesday took the rare step of weighing in on a controversial Florida bill that would ban certain discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in the classroom, telling LGBTQ kids that he has their back.
"I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve," Biden tweeted Tuesday evening.
The message from the White House on Tuesday condemning Republicans for advancing the bill was a rare step as Biden and his aides called the bill part of a larger trend of GOP leaders across the country taking actions to treat students like political pawns.

Republicans in Florida have advanced legislation, which opponents have dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" bill, that states school districts "may not encourage discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students." It is not clear what would be considered "age" or "developmentally" appropriate. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared to voice support for the measure on Monday.

The legislation would hurt kids who need the most protection in school and are "already vulnerable to bullying and violence just for being themselves," said Kevin Munoz, White House assistant press secretary, in a statement.
