Joe Biden replies to Brittney Griner’s letter assuring her of release efforts

Joe Biden replied to a letter from the detained US basketball star Brittney Griner, in which she described fearing she would never return home from Russia, her wife told reporters on Friday.

“I was able to read [Biden’s] letter, and it brought so much joy as well as BG,” Cherelle Griner said, using a nickname for her wife. “I believe every word that she said to [Biden] he understood, and he sees her as a person, and he has not forgotten her, which was her biggest cry in her letter.”

She added that the Biden administration again made reassurances that it was “exhausting all efforts” to repatriate Griner more than four months after her arrest in Russia on drug charges.

Cherelle Griner’s remarks came a day after Brittney Griner, 31, pleaded guilty to drug possession and smuggling charges at her trial in Moscow. She had been detained in February at an airport in Moscow after agents allegedly found vape canisters with cannabis oil in her luggage.

The trial had started a week earlier, prompting growing calls for the Biden administration to do more to secure the release of the former WNBA, NCAA and Olympic champion. In her plea, Griner admitted to the charges but said she had unintentionally brought the canisters in question because she packed in a hurry.

Griner’s legal team in Russia has said it hoped the guilty plea headed off a severe sentence. She faces up to 10 years in prison, and the case is due back in court on 14 July.

Biden’s White House received a letter directly from Griner during the nation’s Independence Day celebrations on Monday. “I’m terrified I might be here forever,” said an excerpt that her representatives shared with the Guardian. “I realize you are dealing with so much, but please don’t forget about me and … other American detainees. Please do all you can to bring us home.”

Two days later, Biden called Cherelle Griner and assured her his administration was doing everything it could to secure Brittney Griner’s release. The president also followed up with the letter , Cherelle Griner revealed at the Friday news briefing.

These Biden voters regret their 2020 choice 18 months into presidency
Three 2020 voters, citing inflation woe, racial pandering, Marxism, say they regret backing Biden

Three people – a Black man, a trans woman and a homeless mother – all regret voting for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, each with unique reasoning.

"I feel like I've been lied to by the media telling us Biden is the answer to all the country's problems," Mikaela Stekly told Fox News. "That's what I saw him as when I voted for him."

"And they made [former President] Trump kind of the bad guy in the media, but things were a lot better when he was president," Stekly, a homeless single mother who blamed the president for her financial struggles, continued.

A Black father of three and lifelong Democrat, meanwhile, said his party has broken its promises to help the Black community. And a trans woman told Fox News she soured on Biden a few months into his term after determining that he embraced a Marxist agenda opposed to freedom.

"I feel like a lot of Black people, we're trapped in the vicious cycle of believing what Democrats tell us," Chris McCullough, the father of three, told Fox News. "And that's how I was for my whole entire life."

McCullough grew up believing the narrative that the Democrats were the party of inclusivity and therefore the only option for Black voters.

"I was programmed, in a sense, with that Democratic-savior type of situation," he told Fox News. "That's how Biden comes across – as Black people's savior."

During the 2020 campaign, Biden said during an interview with Charlamagne Tha God that "if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't Black."

McCullough, who said he now regrets voting for Biden, took that to heart.

Can you imagine the howling from the press if this had happened under Trump? Selling oil to China, from the strategic reserve? The press and the lunatic fringe would be going nuts. But of course, Biden does it, and it's crickets. How much longer can America take this horrible mismanagement of their federal government?
Biden Sold Oil From Emergency Reserves To Chinese Gas Giant Tied To His Scandal-Plagued Son

On Wednesday, Reuters revealed that more than 5 million barrels of oil from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves were sent overseas as part of President Joe Biden’s latest release initiated in March.

Some of that oil went to India, some to the Netherlands, and some was sent to China where the president’s son has engaged in years of potentially criminal business activity embroiling the Biden White House in scandal since the 2020 campaign.

On Thursday, the Washington Free Beacon published new details about the Chinese oil shipments from the U.S. emergency reserves that Biden promised were tapped to “ease the pain that families are feeling” in the United States from high energy prices.

“The Biden administration sold roughly one million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to a Chinese state-controlled gas giant that continues to purchase Russian oil, a move the Energy Department said would ‘support American consumers’ and combat ‘Putin’s price hike,'” the Beacon’s Collin Anderson reported. “Biden’s Energy Department in April announced the sale of 950,000 Strategic Petroleum Reserve barrels to Unipec, the trading arm of the China Petrochemical Corporation. That company, which is commonly known as Sinopec, is wholly owned by the Chinese government.”

Sinopec is also tied to Hunter Biden, whose private equity firm, BHR Partners, bought a $1.7 billion stake in the company seven years ago.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer told the New York Times in November that the president’s son, “no longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly, in either BHR or Skaneateles.”

According to the Washington Examiner, however, Hunter Biden remained listed as a part-owner of the firm as late as March.

“Business records from China’s National Credit Information Publicity System accessed Tuesday continue to identify Skaneateles as a 10% owner in BHR, and Washington, D.C., business records continue to list Biden as the only beneficial owner of Skaneateles,” the paper reported. “The White House has routinely deflected questions about Biden’s business dealings to his attorneys, who have remained largely mum.”

“It’s possible that China’s business registry hasn’t yet been updated to reflect a potential transfer or sale of Skaneateles’s 10% stake in BHR to another party,” the Examiner added.

Sounding the alarm over Joe Biden

SOUNDING THE ALARM OVER JOE BIDEN. President Joe Biden's reelection prospects have seemed doubtful for months now. Many voters think the nation's oldest president ever — he turns 80 in November — is too old for the job and is certainly too old for a second term. Many others think he's simply doing a bad job. Many think both. And that includes Democrats who voted for Biden as well as Republicans who didn't.

Now, we seem to have reached a turning point. In recent days, the most influential media voice among Democrats, the New York Times, has published two articles that appear to lay a foundation for pushing a reluctant Biden out of a reelection race in 2024.

The first was published on July 9 with the headline, "At 79, Biden Is Testing the Boundaries of Age and the Presidency." Don't be fooled by the gentleness of the headline. The article clearly suggested Biden is too old to be president. It reported that Biden's Middle East trip was originally going to be part of his European trip last month until aides realized that putting the two destinations together in one trip "would have made for an arduous 10-day overseas trek" and that "such extended travel might be unnecessarily taxing for a 79-year-old president." One official even called the idea "crazy."

Biden's aides acknowledge that he "looks older than just a few years ago," the New York Times reported, calling that a "political liability that cannot be solved by traditional White House stratagems like staff shake-ups or new communications plans." While the New York Times called Biden's energy level "impressive for a man of his age," it nevertheless said Biden's energy "is not what it was, and some aides quietly watch out for him."

"[Biden] often shuffles when he walks, and aides worry he will trip on a wire," the New York Times reported. "He stumbles over words during public events, and they hold their breath to see if he makes it to the end without a gaffe." Those public appearances have "fueled" the perception that Biden is too old to be president, the article said. "His speeches can be flat and listless. He sometimes loses his train of thought, has trouble summoning names or appears momentarily confused." During the European trip, the paper said, Biden's fellow leaders "protectively treat[ed] him like a distinguished elderly relative."

In all, Biden's age has become an "uncomfortable issue" for Democrats, the paper reported. "If he mounts another campaign in 2024, Mr. Biden would be asking the country to elect a leader who would be 86 at the end of his tenure," the New York Times said, "testing the outer boundaries of age and the presidency." Testing the outer boundaries of age? For many voters, the simpler way of saying that is "too old."

Joe Biden is being praised by Tucker Carlson for lowering gas prices. And while Tucker's dumb viewers will buy the ridiculous notion that Biden controls gas prices, it's truly hilarious watching them get their brains tied in knots over whether to support Biden like Tucker did. First Biden haters blamed him for high gas prices, and now Tucker is trying to make his gullible viewers think that Biden lowering gas prices is bad.

Tucker Carlson Accuses Biden of Lowering Gas Prices

“For weeks, Biden has been saying that he’d do something about the price of gasoline,” the Fox News host said. “Now, lo and behold, gas prices are lower. Joe Biden has been acting in plain sight.”

“The American people aren’t dumb,” Carlson continued. “When they fill up their tanks, they notice that it costs less. They can tell that something’s going on, and they’re not going to put up with it.”

After gas prices showed their biggest one-day drop in almost fifteen years, Carlson said, “It’s time to call out the man behind this conspiracy: Joe Biden.”

Carlson demanded that Congress “stop investigating January 6th and focus its attention on a real scandal: Joe Biden’s corrupt plot to lower gas prices.”

Bidens are as dysfunctional as the Kennedys — and protected by the press

Joe Biden, as his former daughter-in-law recounts in her new memoir, comes on strong.

That’s no surprise to anyone who has read the allegations of sexual inappropriateness against President Biden, or has seen the multiple videos and photos of creepy Uncle Joe with women and young girls: sniffing their hair, massaging their shoulders, pressing his forehead against theirs, grabbing them by the arm or kissing them on the lips, pulling them in close for a full-contact hug.

Betsy DeVos, in her new memoir, is the latest to claim unwanted forehead-to-forehead contact. She was in a wheelchair at the time, recovering from a bike accident, with nowhere to run. “It was gross, and it was also a feeble attempt to intimidate me,” she writes.

But no left-leaning outlet, otherwise hyper-attuned to such violations, seems to care.

Nor has much attention been paid to that first meeting between Hunter Biden’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle and Joe. As she writes in her newly-published book, “If We Break,” Joe, then a stranger to her, “put his hands on my cheeks and looked me in the eyes, his nose almost touching my own. ‘Honey,’ he said, ‘my boy tells me he loves you, so that means I love you, too. Understand? I love you.’ ”

Joe’s instant intimacy was, Buhle says, a lot. “I honestly didn’t know what to do with it,” she writes.

Who would?

That encounter was a preview for life with the Bidens, a family whose public image — that of a close-knit, well-adjusted family brought even closer by tragedy — is at stark odds with reality.

Not since the Kennedys has the mainstream media ignored such familial dysfunction, lack of sexual boundaries, hardcore substance abuse issues, the hiring of sex workers, the leveraging of presidential access for money and trails of corruption, greed and thirst for power that supersede all.

Sorry, Democrats: We're Stuck With Joe and Kamala | Opinion

It was the meme of the week: Joe's gotta go. It felt like every liberal news outlet took part in a week of scathing critique of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, with many even from the President's own party suggesting he commit to not running in 2024.
It's not just wishful thinking. If the Democrats successfully push President Biden to retire, they will be doing something that Republicans refused to do after two impeachments, a horrendous pandemic response, and a detailed attempt to undermine American democracy: They will be tacitly admitting they picked the wrong person to run the country. It's hard to see how they recover from that politically for generations to come.

This is not to say that Joe Biden's presidency has been entirely successful. Many feel he has been unable to secure important legislative victories or fulfill campaign promises, despite having a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. President Biden also failed to secure voting rights or police reform, both big issues for African Americans, who also happen to be the Democrats most loyal and important voting block.

The President also appears helpless in the fight to protect bodily autonomy and healthcare for women and girls in the wake of the reversal of Roe v. Wade, while Biden's signature piece of legislation, Build Back Better, died in the Senate, where he couldn't even rally consensus within his own Party. And it's unlikely that the President will be able to deliver much of anything in the final two years of his term, as Republicans are likely poised to take the House of Representatives.

These failures have been compounded by unforced errors like the sloppy exit from Afghanistan and subpar messaging on the successes and direction of his administration. President Biden is quickly losing the confidence of people who voted for him to return the country to normalcy and work across the aisle. His approval ratings are sinking.

And yet, the truth remains that Democrats chose Biden and Harris to lead them. Quickly casting them aside would be politically disastrous because it would signal to the rest of the country that the Democrats by their own admission can't choose someone to lead the nation.

And this logic holds not just for President Biden but for Vice President Harris. Like Biden, Harris is not the strongest communicator and could face an uphill climb in an open primary against polished extemporaneous speakers—people like Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg or California Governor Gavin Newsom, whose names have been floated as alternatives to Biden in 2024. Other insiders have suggested bringing back 2020 Democratic primary candidates like Senators Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren.

But if Democrats put their weight behind any of these candidates, they risk upsetting Black women, the party's most loyal demographic base. When Biden nominated Harris, it was with the understanding that she was the Democratic Party's future. Her nomination was in part a nod to Black women's vigilance at the ballot box and devotion to the party nationwide. Harris was an example of a world to come under Democratic leadership, where qualified Black women get their due.

If the party abandons that symbolic gesture at the first sign of trouble, then it was never anything more than short term pandering.

Some Black people, especially Black women, will feel that they are again being passed over and taken for granted by Democrats should Vice President Harris be forced into early retirement. And that would be a disaster for the party.

Biden is trying to rebuild America’s middle class. Our lopsided economy needs it

With the recent US supreme court decisions gutting federal enforcement of civil rights and business regulation, and the public hearings of the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack, economic news has been pushed out of the center of public conversation. That’s a shame for two reasons.

First, Joe Biden appears to be centering his presidency on the idea of rebuilding the middle class through government investment in ordinary Americans. This is a major shift – a sea change – from the past 40 years of Republican policy that says the economy would prosper if only the government slashed taxes and regulation, leaving more money and power in the hands of business leaders, those “makers” who would invest in new industries and provide more jobs. Watching the effect of his policies is a window into what works and what doesn’t.

Second, the Republicans are counting on anger over inflation, shortages, and gas prices to win control over the House of Representatives and the Senate in the fall elections. It’s worth paying attention to what’s really going on with those issues, as well as to what policies the Democrats and the Republicans are putting on the table to address them.

On the first point: Biden has focused on rebuilding the American middle class that has been so terribly hollowed out in the past 40 years. While he appears to be driven by his belief in the dignity of all Americans and their right to be able to make ends meet with a decent job, historians will tell you that in the US, race and gender tensions are significantly lower when income and wealth are more evenly distributed than when a few people at the top of the economic ladder control most of the nation’s capital. The rise of lynching in the US in the late 1880s, just as trusts came to monopolize the economy, was not a coincidence.

The Republican economic promise since Reagan has been that cutting regulation and taxes would create a healthy economy in which everyone who is willing to work can thrive. But the political commentator Thom Hartmann marshaled the statistics in a crystal-clear Twitter thread a week ago, revealing just how badly that argument has failed.

Hartmann noted that after the second world war, “the nation had hummed along for 40 years on a top income tax bracket of 91% and a corporate income tax that topped out around 50%”. Business was growing faster than at any other previous time, and businessmen stayed out of politics. The country had great public schools, research laboratories, trade schools, airports, interstate highways and small businesses, as well as unions that protected America’s workers.
