The best part about the 'twitter files' is where Tucker Carlson asks Hunter Biden to help his kid get into college.

Some right wingers definitely have a secret folder full of naked Hunter Biden photos.

Biden as oldest US president at age 80: Nation deserves a 'full neurological assessment' of him
President's health status at age 80 raises questions, comments from medical professionals

President Joe Biden turned 80 on Nov. 20, 2022 — and debate is ongoing, from a health perspective, about his advanced age and the capacity of individuals of that age to serve in the highest office in the land.

Biden has surpassed former President Reagan as the oldest president to serve in the White House — and the milestone has people wondering: Is there an age that is too old for someone to be president?

"I think it’s a legitimate thing to be concerned about anyone’s age, including mine," Biden himself told MSNBC in October.

He added, "But I think the best way to make the judgment is to watch me."

When the Founding Fathers, who were mostly in their early 40s, were deciding the age of the president in 1787, they were more concerned with someone appearing "too youthful" than too old, according to History.com.

Biden boosts US effort to stem sexual violence in war zones

President Biden will sign a memorandum on Monday to boost efforts to combat sexual violence in conflict zones, including in Ukraine and Ethiopia.

The Memorandum on Promoting Accountability for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence aims to leverage sanctions and other tools for accountability for perpetrators of sexual violence and to ensure that sexual violence is given equal consideration as other serious human rights abuses.

It aligns with the United Kingdom’s international ministerial conference on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, which starts on Monday.

The White House said in a statement that conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) is “a too-often overlooked and underreported crime” and said the memorandum comes “at a time when CRSV persists with impunity around the world, including in Russian-occupied Ukraine and Ethiopia.”

The United Nations estimates that for every rape in connection to a conflict, 10 to 20 cases go undocumented.

“The United States does not accept CRSV as an inevitable cost of armed conflict, and is committed to supporting survivors through all available measures—including legal, policy, diplomatic, and financial tools—to deter future violence,” the White House said.

The memorandum will also aim to build a coalition of allies and international organizations to prevent and promote accountability for sexual violence in conflict zones.

The US typically contributes $1.75 million to the Office of the U.N. Special Representative to the Secretary General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, but this year will give an additional $400,000. The State Department will also aim to give a total investment of $10 million over the next two years to projects that investigate and document acts of CRSV in places like Burma, Ukraine and Sri Lanka.

Media become scandal-deniers when it comes to Biden

Media say Republicans shouldn't waste time and money with hearings on Biden scandals

The media excoriate "election deniers," but when it comes to the Bidens, they sound like scandal deniers. Suddenly, the cheerleaders and champions of live prime-time hearings of the Pelosi-picked Jan. 6 panel are scolding Republicans that they shouldn't waste everyone's time and money with hearings on Biden scandals.

Four years ago, Axios was touting "Democratic hit list: At least 85 Trump investigation targets." Politico ran a piece titled "How to Flood the Trump Administration With Investigations."

Now, Axios is warning "Biden-district Republicans brush off impeachment talk." Politico is also putting on the brakes: "The latest victim from House GOP's election night: impeachment."

Forget the revenge impeachments. How about simple hearings? The Associated Press put out a story with the headline "House GOP pushes Hunter Biden probe despite thin majority."

Does anyone remember a story headlined "House Democrats push January 6 probe despite thin majority"? Democrats are always justified, according to their Associated Publicists.

AP reporter Colleen Long lined up Democrats and nervous Republicans to sound alarms that the GOP is destined to overdo this oversight thing.

Legal analyst Jonathan Turley underlined this line from AP: "Joe Biden has said he's never spoken to his son about his foreign business, and nothing the Republicans have put forth suggests otherwise." Doesn't that sound like angry Democrats beating their keyboards?

Biden administration reacts with caution to China protests

The Biden administration is responding cautiously to weekend protests across China, reflecting in part a U.S. desire to stabilize a vital but increasingly adversarial relationship with Beijing.

There were no statements or tweets on the protests from President Joe Biden, who met with President Xi Jinping this month on the sidelines of the G-20 in a bid to ease tensions. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan also avoided comment, and their official spokespersons didn’t issue any statements by name.

Rather, in response to reporters, an unnamed National Security Council spokesperson offered slightly critical comments Monday focused mainly on what appeared to spur the demonstrations: anger over China’s zero-Covid policy, which has led to severe lockdowns and which many protesters blame for the deaths of several people in a fire in Xinjiang province.

“As we’ve said, we think it’s going to be very difficult for the People’s Republic of China to be able to contain this virus through their zero Covid strategy,” the spokesperson said in the statement, adding that measures such as boosting vaccination rates were more useful. “We’ve long said everyone has the right to peacefully protest, here in the United States and around the world. This includes in the PRC.”

As of mid-day Monday in Washington, the protester numbers had thinned in Beijing and Shanghai over the previous 24 hours. But reports of demonstrations spreading to the city of Hangzhou on Monday indicated that authorities have yet to quell the anger — including calls for an end to Xi’s leadership — that has brought people into the streets.

Biden aides are keenly aware that protest movements can be unpredictable. Protests in China are not unusual, but they are often limited in scope and location, and the Chinese Communist Party tends to move quickly to quash anything it perceives as a serious challenge to its authority.

A U.S. official familiar with the issue, who like others for this story spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said the Biden administration had to consider an array of factors in deciding how to respond. A strident U.S. statement, for instance, could lead the Chinese government to turn the focus on the United States and allege “foreign interference” rather than addressing the frustrations of the protesters.

Despite the acrimony, the United States still wants to maintain a base level of stability and cooperation with China, an important global power and economic partner whose help it wants on everything from pandemic preparedness to battling climate change.

The Biden team’s response to the China protests will likely contrast starkly with its quick and vocal support at high levels for protests in Iran, which have been ongoing since mid-September. But Iran is at best a regional power whose Islamist regime has been an avowed enemy of America for more than 40 years, and there is little trade or other cooperation between the two countries.
