But within cities and even states, there will be neighbourhoods and towns where you don't dare go if you are the wrong colour. Racism will divide the US into a checkerboard with white only areas, black only areas, Latino only areas, and so on. There will be few places where "others" can travel.

The Republicans will sweep back into a majority in the House and Senate in 10 months time, thanks largely to voter apathy and gerrymandering and the denial of voting rights by demanding unachievable identification documents and addresses. North Dakota and Montana demand that voters have a "street" address. Indian reserves in those states have houses with only a number. Example: House 1082. Sorry, you can't vote. Works great for denying the native vote. Another example in the southern states: You need two pieces of photo ID. If you have only one, sorry you can't vote. It goes on and on. After this fall, these kinds of rules and gerrymandering of boundaries will get more extreme in advance of the 2024 presidential election.

After all this nonsense takes place and Don, or his chosen successor likely Ron DeSantis, moves into the White House, America will descend into the checkerboard with declining infrastructure, increased lawlessness, and increased disparity between the haves and have-nots. The American electoral system will come to resemble that of Russia.

Republicans are so scared to lose again.
Those 2 below are where some will have to drive far away to be able to vote or drop their mail ballot.
No car. Too bad.

Limit the number, location, or availability of mail ballot drop boxes
Reduce polling place availability (locations or hours)

That's another bad one below.

Limit early voting days or hours

In an unprecedented year so far for voting legislation, 19 states have enacted 33 laws that will make it harder for Americans to vote.

The 2020 federal election drew the United States’ highest voter turnout in more than a century, breaking records despite the Covid-19 pandemic and efforts to undermine the election process with the Big Lie of a stolen election.

In a backlash to this historic voter participation, many state lawmakers have proposed and enacted legislation to make it harder for Americans to vote, justifying these measures with falsehoods steeped in racism about election irregularities and breaches of election security.

Not really. The twin idiots in the White House are handing the Republicans the 2022 mid-terms on a silver platter.

Having had considerable personal experience with staging a civil war that split thirteen colonies from the British Empire, the founders would laugh at any attempt to equate the Jan 6 clown show with an "insurrection." And having dealt with the likes of Benedict Arnold, they would be quick to recognize the motives behind the obnoxious voices that were raised inside the ranks of the protestors.

Yeah its good thing the Trump led insurrection was run by clowns or else we might have had a different outcome. All the dirt and the secret backroom dealings are starting to come out during the investigation of the Jan 6th commission. It certainly is looking like Trump is the present day Benedict Arnold.

Well said.

The idiots still babbling about January 6th truly are imbeciles.

The House select committee investigating the Capitol insurrection is now in possession of White House records that provide new details about a phone call Donald Trump made to Republican Rep. Jim Jordan on January 6, 2021 -- as the investigation drills down on the former President's communications that day and questions have long swirled around calls between him and lawmakers.

Two sources who have reviewed the call records tell CNN that Trump spoke on the phone at the White House residence with Jordan for 10 minutes on the morning of January 6. That afternoon, Jordan took to the House floor to object to the certification of President Joe Biden's Electoral College win, and pro-Trump supporters attacked the US Capitol.

the US appears to be on the path to 'some form of civil war'

Billionaire investor Ray Dalio said on Thursday that the US appears to be on the path to "some form of civil war."

Dalio based his analysis on historical cases — arguing that the combination of financial burdens, such as large deficits, high taxes and inflation, and large wealth and value gaps in a nation "leads to some sort of fighting for control."

"Maybe my views are right and maybe they're wrong," he wrote in a LinkedIn post summarizing excerpts from his book, "Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order." "My goal is simply to pass along what I see for you to consider for yourself."

<snip>

He also argued that the country is witnessing greater amounts of populism and extremism, and outlined what he believes is a path to civil war through the lens of historical examples. A big divide, he said, is the gap between right-wing and left-wing politics, where both "sides" are "unwilling to compromise."

First, he said, extremists become the majority and respecting the rule of law becomes secondary to winning at all costs. Then, he argued, both moderates and the ability to compromise become diluted, leading to civil wars.

"Notably, when that happens at the same time as there are foreign powers that are becoming strong enough to challenge the leading world power that is encountering this civil war dynamic, it is an especially risky period," he added, saying that he thinks the US is currently in this period.

"By most of the measures that I use, the current financial conditions and irreconcilable differences in desires and values are consistent with the ingredients leading to some form of civil war."

Like the first civil war? zero chance, as the military would squash that in around ten minutes. a-10 vs any militia is not even close .Stuff like what we saw last jan 6 is very real though and ongoing.
Who said anything about a militia? Like in the civil war, the military would be divided in two, both sides creating their own army. You would be a fool to believe that the entire military would simply just side with whoever was president at the time. In an actual civil war between republicans and democrats, democrats would be utterly crushed. Not only do the republicans have all the guns, but democrats tend to live just in large cities, dependent on rural supply chains controlled largely by republicans, and are already surrounded

Not in the near future, that is for sure. I think people over-exaggerate the fragility of the United States. I think this is because of the effects of a post-cold war U.S., though that's a different topic.
