Because it is in our backyard. We use November 11th to commemorate those who died to protect our freedoms, and to create an order of peace in Europe. Ukraine is in Europe, and by violating the security order created by the allied victory in World War II, Putin is threatening to do what Hitler did. Putin has stirred up trouble in central asian republics, but we said nothing. The middle east is not in Europe's back yard

I don't feel threatened by Russia at all. I'm sure most of Europe sleeps well. Putin is backing a movement that wants to reunite with Russia. What is the big deal? Heaven for bid the the West keep their noses out of others business.

Added later: So when Putin wants to continue to take over the other 13 countries that made up the former USSR you would be okay with that as well.

So far US and Canada are the world leaders in bombing other countries, killing millions of innocent people, invading independent countries for our own interests and economic reasons. We should *bleep* about international laws cause they don't apply to us when invading countries on the other side of the globe, but somehow other countries should follow them when dealing with something directly next to their border. We brought democracy to Iraq while killing millions of innocent people, yet when Russia "invaded" Crimea and protected the citizens during exercising their free democratic will, not a SINGLE PERSON was killed.

The PART of the Ukraine that Russia is supporting. They aren't going after the whole country. And yes, if the rest of above countries wanted to rejoin Russia than I would support them. At the end of the day, the people should have the voice.

If the illegal rats who took over western Ukraine start to aim missiles at Russia,

Eastern Ukraine should be like Quebec - different. They should be allowed to do whatever they
want and sell anything they want to Russia. Germany buys oil from Russia. Why

Yes, and invasion of Afghanistan was so much better? We still dumped all over international laws, killed hundreds of thousands of people, raped the country for years, changed the government to our liking, and now we're leaving. Thanks brown people, hopefully you don't mind being killed!

And yes, we weren't in Iraq, it was US (which we supported every step of the way cause we're brown nosers). But it doesn't stop US from running their mouth about international laws and what a bad bad neighbor Russia is with invading Crimea and all. Really US? Number of people killed in Crimea during Russian "invasion": ZERO. Number of people killed during operation "Let's bring democracy to brown people" - hundreds of thousands. Who should be badmouthing whom here, exactly? Ask people if Iraq who they want to be invaded next - Russia or US?

Not a single peep about international laws should be coming from US or Canada cause they don't mean anything to us, but we stomp our feet at other countries? What a moronic behavior.

Hey I'm not a fan of US and it foreign policy, or the current Canadian Government and it brown nosing (I would suspect majority of Canadian's are also not in favour of the brown nosing being done).

Do they??? Russia uses its propaganda machine to go after disillusioned people, and create a society of lemmings. People in Crimea saw Russia as a panacea, but now 60% of them want to go back to Ukraine. Lack of food, basic medicine, human rights violations - registration of Jews and Crimean Tartars, including destruction of a mosque in Simferopol.
