Hidden behind the paywall for the New York Times it says...
In fact, Russia has a whole neo-Nazi brigade working in Ukraine, but for whatever reason, the world wide socialists seem to overlook that fact.KYIV, Ukraine — Since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine last year, the Ukrainian government and NATO allies have posted, then quietly deleted, three seemingly innocuous photographs from their social media feeds: a soldier standing in a group, another resting in a trench and an emergency worker posing in front of a truck.
In each photograph, Ukrainians in uniform wore patches featuring symbols that were made notorious by Nazi Germany and have since become part of the iconography of far-right hate groups.
The photographs, and their deletions, highlight the Ukrainian military’s complicated relationship with Nazi imagery, a relationship forged under both Soviet and German occupation during World War II.
That relationship has become especially delicate because President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia has falsely declared Ukraine to be a Nazi state, a claim he has used to justify his illegal invasion.
...
Russian soldiers in Ukraine have also been seen wearing Nazi-style patches, underscoring how complicated interpreting these symbols can be in a region steeped in Soviet and German history.
The Soviet Union signed a nonaggression pact with Germany in 1939, so it was caught by surprise two years later when the Nazis invaded Ukraine, which was then part of the Soviet Union. Ukraine had suffered greatly under a Soviet government that engineered a famine that killed millions.

Re: Ukraine war/President/news
No, it's not like that. The Russian's passed a law forbidding the investigation of any failures of the dam a week before they blew it up. The exact wording in Article 10 is...
Also, sometime between May 28th and June 5th the barricade that was in place on the road since last summer was moved to allow vehicles into the area that was breached.10. Until January 1, 2028, a technical investigation of accidents at hazardous production facilities and accidents of hydraulic structures that occurred as a result of hostilities, sabotage and terrorist acts is not carried out.
Another small coincidence is the water behind the dam, which was completely controlled by Russia, was at, what appears to be, an all time historic high level. 14.75 meters at the beginning of May to 17.37 meters last week. Flip back a page and take a look at the sat images from last week and yesterday - they seemed to have squeezed off the discharge over the last week, despite being at a high level unseen in the recent records.

The Ukies did test fire a HIMARS against it last year, just to see what would happen, and talked openly about blowing it up, in a WaPo interview no less, but sure, crazy Russians again.

Far more interesting to me right now is the effect of Russian helis on Ukie attacks. The Ukies have no counter and the videos of Russians calmly working over full columns of vehicles are chilling. Its pretty clear from these probes that any Ukie attack is doomed so Plan B, blow the dam, call off the attacks and shelter in place. They need to go on the defensive to survive.

Re: Ukraine war/President/news
Finally, if you dig a little deeper, you will find the dam was full to bursting because the Ukies! Opened all the dams upstream, filling the reservoir, and this dam that failed couldn't be fully opened for whatever reason... perhaps structural damage from the HIMARS strike??
Yeah, crazy Ivan![:haha: [icon_lol2.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_lol2.gif)

Re: Ukraine war/President/news
I guess I'll have to come back on January 2, 2028 to see what the official explanation is, because Crazy Ivan passed a law last week that says they can't do any investigation of the failure as a result of hostilities, or sabotage until January 1, 2028.
And that makes sense to you... *tears*
The dam was breached shortly after 2:00 am local time. At 3:00 am local time the news media in Moscow was able to get in contact with the Mayor. Despite the fact that everyone on the internet knew the dam had been breached, it appears the local Mayor was the only person on the planet that seemed to think everything was quiet.
Russia breached the dam. I'm sure they didn't mean to do it quite so efficiently, but given how poorly they do at everything else they attempt in this war, I can see why they put the extra effort into making this war crime count.
(New paragraph - see how I did that?) Bank machines in Crimea are now limiting cash withdrawals to 300 rubles. Almost enough to buy a beer and contemplate how
ed they are if and when the Kerch Bridge comes down - again. The traffic jam has already started.

Adrenaline, hell of a drug. I thought of every person I'd ever seen in shock when I saw that video. I think you might have missed the best part though.

Now that I've seen the video in full, I can't deny those were pretty awesome kills by that Ka 52. I don't know much about the leopard 2 harvester combines, do they point the barrels down like that to clear trenches or something?gertlush wrote: ↑Jun 6th, 2023, 6:05 pm Far more interesting to me right now is the effect of Russian helis on Ukie attacks. I was quite interested in Robert F. Kennedy Jr's take on the Ukraine war and how their current government came to power. The last ten minutes or so:

You okay Boss? I'm not the Russian MOD. Hell, I'm not even a supporter of the Russian MoD. Thought that would have been obvious by now. Just put your glasses on and watch the video again.
