-The People’s Republic of China is preparing to go to war, and it is not trying to hide its efforts. Amendments to the National Defense Law, effective the first day of last year, transfer powers from civilian to military officials.

-Why then do we care about the National Defense Law amendments?

The amendments, Fisher tells us, “point to China’s ambition to achieve ‘whole nation’ levels of military mobilization to fight wars and give the CMC formal power to control the future Chinese capabilities for global military intervention.”


“The revised National Defense Law also embodies the concept that everyone should be involved in national defense,” reports the Communist Party’s Global Times, summarizing the words of an unnamed CMC official. “All national organizations, armed forces, political parties, civil groups, enterprises, social organizations, and other organizations should support and take part in the development of national defense, fulfill national defense duties, and carry out national defense missions according to the law.”

If we look at recent history, B seems to be the correct answer.

China is preparing for war. The US and South Korea are conducting point military exercises and in response North Korea continues to conduct its missile tests. Russia was preparing for war and is now at war.

Watching Russia and Ukraine slug out a lightning special military operation, I am reminded there wasn't even thunder. China vs Taiwan will be a harder slug. What would be gained? China has already said Taiwanese will be destined for "re-education" after being re-integrated so Taiwan has motivation to fight. Certainly, China is "preparing", but so is Taiwan. In the time it takes China to bring significant forces to bear, and after months of failed attempts to take the island nation, all of which is blatantly visible by satellite, Taiwan could just build or borrow a few nukes as they have developed this expertise since 1949. They also had US nukes back in the 50's to deter China during the first strait crisis. Certainly, the US was not defending a chip industry back in 1954.

Russian forces didn't have a cake walk in to Ukraine despite all the roads, and railways. There is 160Km of ocean between China and Taiwan and ships are slow. Everything would be sunk before getting half way. No landing forces allowed signs are already on the beach.

Russia had a hard time due to poor equipment maintenance, old equipment, poor training and preparation. This is a country that is battle-hardened. China has never been to war with modern weapons. They don't have a clue, yet, a single nut-job is pushing all the buttons. Russia and China together, suffer immense military corruption.

If China wants to be the aggressor, they will be reminded the US/Japan/etc are better friends with Taiwan than Ukraine, and China is heavily reliant on raw material imports. The world would be cutting them off more than they are now. Coal, oil, food, fertilizers, and LNG used to make fertilizers. China has some of the worst soils in the world and use 5x as much fertilizer as the rest of us. China would be facing eventual mass starvation.

China better hurry. They are in the middle of a population bust, and an economic housing crisis. China is far from ready to win a war... but, they could be d*cks if they wanted. They warned us about Pelosi's visit. Nothing happened. Chinese are fuming at their own impotence. If China wants an all out war, they should also consider Russia likely won't join them.

If is about to hit the fan between China and Taiwan, no one is close enough to help Taiwan on an all out assault by China.

Take a look on whatever map you use to see the Island nation is only 150 Kms off coast of China.
Hopefully Taiwan has used it’s technology advancements to create their own version of the iron dome, to protect the entire Island Nation.

The “iron dome” would not be applicable in Taiwan. That protects against mortars and small rockets.
Taiwan does have ABM Sky Bow, and HAWKs and SAM patriots, anti-ship harpoons and more. There is a newly signed PAC-MAN deal.

One China policy: China is part of democratic Taiwan.. Then the people can vote as to who their head of government will be.

If China does or when it does attempt an invasion, Taiwan will stand up for itself the best it can. The US to date has made Taiwan similar to a porcupine, not going to be easy to walk over it.
I wouldn't be surprised if a few attack subs on both sides are lurking about in the area and satellites are working overtime to determine any troop build ups near the coast.

Just sayin' from small patrol boats to aircraft carriers and everything in between, China is dropping a vessel of some description in the water average 1 per day.
China can launch short range munitions of various types day and night endlessly from thier back yard.
China has spec built conventional/kinetic df21 carrier killer missiles that force US naval forces to stay 1600+ miles away, negating their aircrafts usefulness because they will be out of range.

Japan could/likely? get involved as well.

The US has to make Taiwan as prickly a target for China as possible. Taiwan is doing as much as they can, increasing conscription time in the forces to one year from 3? months is a help.
