Among the press corps’ greatest duties is to tell audiences things they don’t know. At this point, without spending another column-inch on him, we can all agree that Musk is a rich publicity hound who goads reporters almost daily with his flimflam stunts, promises and predictions. His antics deserve some coverage, but maybe for the interim, it should be with a massive soundproof blanket to muffle his daily, inconsequential braying.

LOL. The press that puffed Musk up by writing about him to sell their stuff is now trying to un-puff him by writing about him to sell their stuff.normaM wrote: ↑Dec 22nd, 2022, 4:39 am https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/ ... s-00074881

Too funny.

A gift that keeps on giving (and taking and giving and taking) - and the press can't get enough of him. For them, he's a goose laying golden eggs.

these 3 very wealthy men have lost tons of money and respect all because they think that money makes them smarter and clearly we can see that it does not
I have no doubt that Elon shareholders told him to shut his yap and start fixing the mess he created

With an estimated IQ of 155 (Albert Einstein's was 160), Is the 2nd richest person (With an estimated net worth of around $164 billion as of December 13, 2022), Is currently the sitting CEO and Founder of SpaceX, CEO and Product Architect of Tesla, one can hardly say he is anything close to Kayne or Trump and most definitely wouldn't be described as a "Clown Show" in any history books.
I suspect you and others with the same strong opinions are suffering from the residual side effects of Trump derangement syndrome. Seriously think back to how much hate Bill Clinton and both G Bush's received. That's nothing in comparison to the hate Trump got and he wasn't nearly as bad as the previous presidents.
For the last 10 years, all the leftists praised Elon for his electric cars. For the last 5 years, everyone has been praising Elon for his tech on reusable boosters and for advancing Rocket ship development further than NASA. Elon, being the wealthy "Fix it" person he is, saw a major issue with Twitter and wanted to fix it. When one of the leading Scientists in developing and advancing the tech in mRNA vaccines is banned from the platform for speaking his professional opinion, that's a problem. When Biology Professors get banned for saying A man cannot be a Woman, and women cannot be men, that's a problem. When the FBI and CIA are bribing Twitter executives to silence certain stories that could damage a presidential candidate's chance, that's a BIG problem.
So he bought it and is in the process of fixing the mistakes (while making some himself) but at least we know he won't take bribes from politicians and secret governmental agencies.

I'd never assume he won't ever take bribes. It'd be cool if he never did, though.Nedroj wrote: ↑Dec 23rd, 2022, 8:09 amWhile Elon came from a wealthy family he actually is very intelligent which is why he is where he is now.Patron wrote: ↑Dec 22nd, 2022, 1:48 pm

Elon did not make it on his own, he's had the help of investors and bought a lot of the brilliant brains behind his success and when you come from a very wealthy family you have an instead leg up. Bezo and his ex wife started amazon by themselves with a $250K loan from his parents but they did the work, Steve Jobs wasn't the brilliant mind behind Apple , he hired those brains but he was the Salesman that sold the product to the public. And as for Elon he started his Twitter thoughts ( 3 days after owning it) by spreading a malicious lie about Nancy Pelosi's husband getting that beat down by an ex gay lover, so very professional , not.Nedroj wrote: ↑Dec 23rd, 2022, 8:09 amWhile Elon came from a wealthy family he actually is very intelligent which is why he is where he is now.Patron wrote: ↑Dec 22nd, 2022, 1:48 pm

anyways you can admire the man and think that he's gonna save the world but to me he's just another Billionaire that is adoring all this attention ( unless it's negative of course) and I can honestly say his new brain chip implant Neuralink scares the hell out of me, but hey you might be willing to get one as soon as they are available

The assumption folk who don't share the currently popular dislike for Musk "admire the man and think that he's gonna save the world" seems like projection. While that's part of the emotional investment many folk make in today's celebrity-celebrating culture, not everyone allows emotional responses to run roughshod over rational thought.Patron wrote: ↑Dec 23rd, 2022, 9:02 amElon did not make it on his own, he's had the help of investors and bought a lot of the brilliant brains behind his success and when you come from a very wealthy family you have an instead leg up. We should be able to discuss our concerns about the brain chip implant without resorting to the personal. There are certainly pros and cons to this emerging technology worth discussing, IMO. In context of this thread, though, Musk sees a business opportunity and unsurprisingly does what businessmen often do with such an opportunity.

I am not asking anyone to dislike Elon, it is me who doesn't like him and I don't believe that he's some kind of demi-god and if the man doesn't want to be in the spot light then he can simply step out of it, plenty of wealthy people do so. And please, you seem very emotional about Pierre and you like him and guess what ?? that's great !! but your constant IMO's that people should stop talking about people who literally put themselves out there in the media either by buying giant corporations or campaigning for the presidency of 300 million people don't care about being shielded from the public scrutiny otherwise they wouldn't put themselves in those positions.rustled wrote: ↑Dec 23rd, 2022, 9:27 amThe assumption folk who don't share the currently popular dislike for Musk "admire the man and think that he's gonna save the world" seems like projection. I didn't say you were. It often seems folk making assumptions about how others "feel" about Musk use their own level of intensity of feeling.Patron wrote: ↑Dec 23rd, 2022, 10:47 amI am not asking anyone to dislike Elon, it is me who doesn't like him and I don't believe that he's some kind of demi-god and if the man doesn't want to be in the spot light then he can simply step out of it, plenty of wealthy people do so.rustled wrote: ↑Dec 23rd, 2022, 9:27 am

I doubt I've ever said people should stop talking about Musk, or any other public figure. Kindly don't put your preferred spin on my words, and then try to stuff those spun words into in my mouth and expect me to go along with whatever nonsense you're suggesting I said. Thanks!Patron wrote:but your constant IMO's that people should stop talking about people who literally put themselves out there in the media either by buying giant corporations or campaigning for the presidency of 300 million people don't care about being shielded from the public scrutiny otherwise they wouldn't put themselves in those positions.
What I have said is how amusing it is to watch people who don't like a public figure like Musk pay him a great deal of their attention.
