While the nation was facing a crisis on Jan 6, what did Trump do about it?
This is the guy Republicans want to handle National Emergencies.

“I don’t know what to do here,” the former president allegedly told an aide at around 7pm, long after a crowd of his supporters had breached the Capitol.

According to the journalist Michael Wolff’s new tell-all book, Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency, Mr Trump was baffled and unsure of himself as the violence spiralled out of control. Excerpts of the book, published in New York Magazine, chronicle how Mr Trump veered from ignoring the rioters, to defending them as his loyal supporters, to casting them off as “not our people”, and finally to simply not knowing what to do about them.

The day started, Mr Wolff writes, with Mr Trump fixated on the one thing that had obsessed him since early November: his election loss to Joe Biden – which he viewed, falsely, as illegitimate – and how he could overturn it.

According to Mr Wolff’s book, the outgoing president could think of nothing else – it was as if he had “blinders” on."

The field is hampered by the fact that whoever runs, for the most part, they are afraid of Trump. Even Pence soft-peddles his comments about Trump. What would the Republicans be saying about a Democratic President that had done what Trump did (and no they aren't perfect either)? America needs a True Leader now, more than ever. Unfortunately they seem to be short on those these days.

LOL - how did I know that would be the Trump-hating TDS response. I actually found his speech hilarious and entertaining, unlike listening to most politicians these days, but especially the walking sewer pipe Biden, who is so out of it he doesn't even know what he is saying.

Trump is going to be hard to beat if this election is a fair one and not another ballot-harvesting fest where senile Joe just gets to sit in his bunker eating ice cream with the idiot Kamala. It will be very interesting. I wonder who Trump will select as a running mate this time? A lot of talk about Vivek being a good call, but so would Nikki Haley.

I just don't know what you are talking about. But it will be interesting in November 2024 for the Biden/Trump do-over.
