Interesting that when another country threatens oil resources, we bomb the crap out of them to ensure prices stay low and we have access.

...only to let the oil companies raise prices at their will.

10 cents liter jump? Did a refinery just blow up?

I was chuckling to myself how they have trained the public to accept random jumps.

High gas prices are good; they reduce pollution.

Higher prices = people drive less = less pollution.

A good theory perhaps, but unfortunately there are far more elements in play than that in the bigger picture. IMO the main impact of higher prices is not less driving, but rather less money spent in areas other than fuel.

Higher prices = still drive where I have to drive = no impact on pollution.

... I just tend to drive the Saturn and leave the Ferrari parked by the boat

Same here, I don't drive for fun, I drive because I need to do stuff.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I found it interesting yesterday that Diesel was cheaper that gas. A week ago when gas was 1.25 Diesel was 1.39. When I got some yesterday it was 1.32...go figure.
