If you don't think 1984 isn't alive and well today, with one or two missing peices, like cashlessness, you need to re-read the book.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

I've read the book numerous times and it is most definitely not representative of current society.
There's no problem whatsoever with using debit / credit cards. Digital currency was not implemented to control society no matter whether people type Orwellian 100 or 10.000 more times on an Internet forum

Digital currency will allow government and banks to turn your account on or off as it pleases. See the trucker convoy as an example. Don't like the climate crisis narrative and spoke out against it online, sorry your banking has been turned off.

As soon as the government quits screwing me i will quit screwing them, i pay far more than my "fair share" and they continue taking more more and people are done with it. The only reason they want cashless is for full control you'll be taxed this much and you will like it and have no choice because they have control, losing full control of your finances is not a good thing.
I wouldn't Have to manage my anger if people could learn to manage their STUPIDITY

And yet, as I've stated numerous times, my far right family members who donated to the convoy didn't have their bank accounts frozen.Zedi wrote: ↑Mar 21st, 2022, 10:30 am Digital currency will allow government and banks to turn your account on or off as it pleases. There are a lot of scary scenarios running rampant, most if not all of which appear to be completely untrue.

Paying taxes is part and parcel of living in society. This mindset of "I don't like it so I'm gunna screw the system" is laughably outlandish, against the law, but par for the course for conspiracy theorists who think the govt is tracking their lives via digital currency.Boosted632 wrote: ↑Mar 21st, 2022, 12:50 pmAs soon as the government quits screwing me i will quit screwing them, i pay far more than my "fair share" and they continue taking more more and people are done with it. Roads and bridges to drive on, water and electricity, garbage pick up, schools for your kids, hospitals and health care, etc.
- if you feel you're being screwed by the man and want to screw him back I sure hope you're not using any of these things.

Hey , some of them have more money than I do!
Probably would take an e-transfer if you asked.
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

I don't mind pay my share but some taxes don't seem fair.
Like how many times do we need to pay tax on the same item. Cars, houses etc. There should be a limit.

When my Wife worked downtown there was a panhandler who always wore a pith helmet. He would sit outside the RBC branch.
I sat there one day in the Sun waiting and he was there. His friend came and he passed over a pile of bills and change that you wouldn't believe! I heard that he went to the Casino when it was downtown every night and gambled and smoked like a chimney.
I never give these guys anything!

Re: Cashless society... you in?
I have heard of such stories. In my little town and in my line of work I know who a lot of these guys are and sadly some of them are, in fact, pretty desperate. Sometimes when I get a big bag of empties I'll go touring until I run across some guy with his shopping cart and make his day a bit brighter. I know some will probably use it for alcohol or Listerine or some such but I can appreciate their want to escape their reality for at least a little while. Not everyone has been given the same chances we have or has the capacity to just turn things around and I am just so grateful I didn't get dealt their hand in life.

That's the trick. Politicians campaign on lowering personal income tax, and then ding everyone with new
user fees and a multitude of consumption taxes. We're at fault for electing these snake oil salespeople.
