City surprised by Airbnb tax

Post by ecoforce »

Well, then the city must lower other taxes by what came in from this revenue.
What do you say? I think it only makes sense.

Good luck having the CoK lower anything especially taxes.

I have a suggestion, how about the citizens of Kelowna having more input on how our tax money is spent.

Post all expenses and revenue on a website so that people can view where the money is going. Updated regularly to show data that is no more than 1 quarter old. The website can also show area's where the City year over year is reducing its costs, possible future savings from current expense spending and how savings are being invested.

This is a replication of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement plan and it works well, its also a replication of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan. Hold's everyone accountable.

Since the city stands to make considerable money from this tax, don't expect regulations limiting Airbnbs anytime soon. I'm 100% sure this is why Airbnb is doing this.
