I think she wants me

Post by Glacier »

I just received the following email:

I’m alone in a huge house…
My boyfriend is far away and he doesn’t even text me.
I’m sure he is cheating on me now(((
I don’t want to spend entire night in this large bed.
Come and make me happy…

Do people actually fall for these scams? If you're sad that your boyfriend might be cheating on you, why are you asking me (and presumably 18 million other dudes) to come share your big bed with you? I wasn't born yesterday, so clearly, you're in it for the money.

If you send me an envelope stuffed with 100 dollar bills, I will message you the link.

Hmmm, still cheaper than marriage. Will you accept PayPal? Asking for a friend :132:

Seriously though, it is pretty sad that some people feel they need to resort to such ads for companionship. Same with mail order brides. When really, they just need to go out and try a bit harder. But then again, some people are just looking for a no strings attached quick romp in the hay. But isn't that what Tinder is for?

I don't get it. what would be the purpose of the email? The link was removed, but what was the link to? I assume you know that you can hover over a link to see where it will take you. It could have been a phishing attempt.... You know, get you clickin and suddenly, you've given up more than you intended.

The same ones who fall for all the rest of the scams.

BTW you owe me $5000 and if you don't pay I'm sending the RCMP to arrest you! :D
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

Who falls for these? Probably no one. But some people will click a link out of curiosity, believing they're smart enough to back out if things get fishy. At best, it will lead to a porn/webcam site that's after your money. At worst, it'll install all kinds of crap on your computer.

There are still countries where sexuality is very repressed. The internet represents an escape from that. The notion of making a sexual connection over the ol' WWW is still high adventure for many folks in the world.

People fall for this stuff all the time. Otherwise people wouldn’t bother trying to scam.

Whoever wrote that probably has a thousand different scams going out to different mailer lists purchased on the cheap from everywhere you’ve given out your email address, and are likely plastered all over sites like Craigslist etc. There are a lot of gullible people, even on these forums, and eventually one of them will fall for one of these scams.

There are a lot of places in Nigeria, India, Russia where there are literally scam factories. Call centres and warehouses where people work full time jobs trying to scam strangers.
