Great, because google translate works so well? lol! What did it say when I used it last, 'packed our cars' and 'reproductive issues'?

Why isn't this in video form? I'm such a slow reader!
*glances around* "Can someone please read this to me while I drink wine and eat bon-bons? I can't pay you but I'll give you one sapling per hour for your troubles."

I don't get it, Sept. Do you think Greta is a spokesperson sacrificial lamb for the elite, or not? Trick question! We know she is. So why promote her?

No matter what type of spin is put on this issue, it's clear that over-population is the root cause of many of our planet's ills. The problem of overpopulation can be solved quite rapidly. As I've already posted somewhere on this board, the earth is trying to kill us ... pandemics, wildfires, drought, etc. Even mother nature knows we need to die off. Why don't all humans know this? *eyes narrow* ...Unless the fires are actually being started by Al Gore and the Koch brothers so that they can sell more 'green energy products'? I'd better give up the wine and bon-bons if I'm gonna hafta to dodge space lasers. *sigh*

Are you going to change your user name to 'Octogenarian' when you enter your next decade?

Stop having babies and plant more trees, people!
Oh, and I guess I missed this one too.

1. Skip--seems rhetorical.
2. Please repeat.
3. Skip--seems rhetorical.
4. I posted you a video about the author, so please pass the bon-bons, and since you owe me a quarter of a sapling, please go plant it somewhere in your back yard.
5. No.
6. Not.
7. For entertainment--one of the main purposes of this message board.
8. I don't know either, and that's why I mounted a poll elsewhere about overpopulation on the board (and now I'm not going to change that word order ).
9. Skip--seems rhetorical
10. Only if the franchise is available.

That's ten.

Did I miss any?

I hope Beijing will be her first stop. Get those commies to stop building and using coal fired electrical generation plants.

Hope it goes well for her. [icon_lol2.gif]

Back at it today.
Greta Thunberg leads youth climate strike in Berlin for 1st time since pandemic

Several thousand climate activists, including Sweden's Greta Thunberg, demonstrated in Berlin on Friday to ring the alarm on climate change to candidates competing to succeed Chancellor Angela Merkel at this weekend's German general election.

Friday's strike marks the return of the youth climate protests that in 2019 drew more than six million people onto the streets, before the COVID-19 pandemic largely halted the mass gatherings and pushed much of the action online.

Germany has long been in the vanguard of climate activism, giving birth to the first Green Party to win national prominence, and all parties are committed to action on climate change.

Meanwhile, young people around the world took to the streets to demand urgent action against climate change in the largest protests since the start of the pandemic.

Way to go Kelowna and Castanet News. :clapping:
Kelowna joins climate rally

Jayden Wasney - Sep 25, 2021 / 4:00 am | Story: 346789

https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/3 ... ate-action

Kelowna residents joined protesters around the world for the 2021 global climate strike on Friday.

The event was organized to raise awareness for the current condition of the climate, and protesters on hand were demanding change. Ben Cuthbert, an organizer with Fridays for Future, tells Castanet what happened, and what the overall goal behind the protest was.

“We blocked Bernard, we made a ton of noise, we blocked some of the traffic, did a u-turn and then we came to finish at Tracy Gray’s office,” said Cuthbert. “We want Tracy to recognize that we need to immediately reduce emissions, and scale back fossil fuel extraction.”

Some students at KSS were also taking part in the global climate strike. Gracie Teslyk and a few of her science classmates chose not to walk out of class and participate in the protest downtown due to COVID concerns, so they found a unique way to show their support.

“We decided to build a 12-foot-tall Minecraft tree. We went around to all of our classes as a group and got all of our students to write a little message on paper that is currently being taped to the tree,” explained Teslyk. We got them to answer a couple questions like what are they actively doing to prevent climate change.”

Teslyk also said she wants everyone to be as educated as possible when it comes to the climate, as we all have a job to do.

Dayna Margetts is a science teacher at KSS, and she admits seeing her students take action on climate change makes her emotional. “I might tear up, it's just so inspiring and we’ve worked our butts off this week to make this happen, and what I love is the fact that they love doing this."

The teacher was also very blunt about older generations taking immediate action, as she doesn’t feel the younger generations should have to suffer the consequences of climate change.

“We as adults need to do something. We can’t leave it all up to them, because that's just like us saying here's an easy get-out-jail free ticket. Sorry, but we can do it too, and I think the young people seeing that someone in my position cares so much about their planet, I think that's what really inspires them,” said Margetts.

Yours in solidarity with UBCO Honorary Doctor of Laws, Greta Thunberg, and the rest of the people with her FridaysForFuture movement.

Driving through the Rockies, one can see clear-cut patches that have been there for years. Those patches are only what we can actually see - how many more clear-cut patches are there?

If those in power really cared so much about the environment, wouldn't they be ensuring those trees were replaced? Wouldn't they be encouraging citizens to plant more trees on their own properties, too?

Wouldn't we be using carbon capture technology everywhere?

World's largest plant capturing carbon from air starts in Iceland

The world's largest plant that sucks carbon dioxide directly from the air and deposits it underground is due to start operating on Wednesday (September 8, 2021), the company behind the nascent green technology said.

Swiss start-up Climeworks AG, which specialises in capturing carbon dioxide directly from the air, has partnered with Icelandic carbon storage firm Carbfix to develop a plant that sucks out up to 4,000 tons of CO2 per year.

That's the equivalent of the annual emissions from about 790 cars. Last year, global CO2-emissions totalled 31.5 billion tonnes, according to the International Energy Agency.

Direct air capture is one of the few technologies extracting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and is viewed by scientists as vital to limit global warming

Greta Thunberg is a puppet for those who wield silent power. She's a marketing tool, paying nothing more than lip service by demonizing and shaming others (or at least trying to).

Other people, other countries, are making a real difference, real change. They recognize that we can't get away from using fossil fuels. They not only offer real solutions but they're implementing real solutions.

Well the article you posted doesn't mention Greta, so I assume you're posting your own unsubstantiated opinion.

So let's let Greta defend herself, herself.
Greta Thunberg
@GretaThunberg
Thank you so much for all the well-wishes on my 18th birthday!

Tonight you will find me down at the local pub exposing all the dark secrets behind the climate- and school strike conspiracy and my evil handlers who can no longer control me!
I am free at last!!

And,
Greta Thunberg at 18: 'I'm not telling anyone what to do'

https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... what-to-do

Greta Thunberg says she has stopped buying new clothes but does not sit in judgment on others whose lifestyle choices are less environmentally friendly than her own, in an interview to mark her 18th birthday.

Thunberg, whose solo school strike in 2018 snowballed into a global youth movement, stopped flying several years ago, travelling instead by boat. She is vegan and said she had stopped consuming “things” .

Asked what she thought of celebrities who talk about the climate emergency while flying around the world, the teenager declined to criticise them, although warned that others might.

“I don’t care,” she told the Sunday Times magazine. “I’m not telling anyone else what to do, but there is a risk when you are vocal about these things and don’t practise as you preach, then you will become criticised for that and what you are saying won’t be taken seriously.”

<snip>

(Conclusion)

She named her ideal birthday present as a “promise from everyone that they will do everything they can” for the planet. However, when pressed on a more tangible gift, she opted for replacement headlights for her bike, explaining: “In Sweden, it gets very dark in the winter.”

Climate change is nothing but a weapon to control the western societies. They are attempting to destroy the west. If climate change were a big problem, why aren't we bring manufacturing back to localized plants? Shipping products from China is the most irresponsible thing we are doing yet that isn't even being discussed. Why? Well if we are self reliant, then they cannot manipulate us. The money collected for carbon taxes should be used to create more efficient forms to maintaining life for our countries. Tax deductions for producing your own food from a garden etc. We should be doing the same with exercise. Tax write offs if you are within your suggested weight range. Nothing the government does is smart if we are trying to make our countries better. They used covid to divide and centralize their control even more. Higher CO2 is better for the world. Not only is it a small portion of gases in the atmosphere, it also is great for crop production.
Other people, other countries, are making a real difference, real change. They recognize that we can't get away from using fossil fuels. They not only offer real solutions but they're implementing real solutions.
