Re: Prepping
Some people come by prepping honestly, they just don't use the term.
Grow up without !
One tends to gain a pretty firm grip on essentials.
Well, a dozen years with Scouts Canada never hurts.
The original prepper group.
Water and toilet paper never go out of style.

Re: Prepping
Just throwing a sea -can in the ground without proper ventilation etc....it won't work. The Okanagan area is unsurvivable in a nuclear war situation due to it being directly downwind of multiple primary targets in Wash state.
If living in the Okanagan is "unsurvivable", why bother prepping? Even if one to survive, what would they be coming out to, when they crack open the door?
What is going to be the benefit to the survivors, other than watching their grandchildren being born with a 3rd arm out of their forehead?
Who knows — some ultra-intelligent alien being may discover in the future, and use your genetic code to reanimate a race of humans on a distant planet. Let’s just hope those humans don’t choose to blow themselves up.

Most of us simply go by the less trendy term, aka, common sense

Not a prepper, more of an opportunist.
Any disaster or made up disaster (an event that whiny touchy feely over reactioners make into a disaster) are beautiful events for timing.
In the case of the coronavirus, air travel becomes cheaper so a good time to book flights, bond yields fall, equity markets overreact. These are buying opportunities.

Hard to prep without a timeline.

Always have a supply of water (you never know when there's a boil water advisory coming out)
Always have a bag packed (you only forget underwear and other essentials once)
Always have a secondary place planned in the event of an evacuation

Has anyone noticed that they are throwing a bit extra into their carts?
Boost? Ensure for gramma? Five cases instead of three.
Oil for the vehicles? Any maintenance products your items would be useless without?
Vitamins? Supplements?
Candles? Matches?
Canned goods? Five cans of pizza sauce instead two?
That sort of thing, not big purchases but just a few extra?

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Re: Prepping
I've taken steps to ensure we're prepared for some sort of catastrophic event, but I don't consider myself a Prepper. Rather it's more a case of having a few bins of food stuffed in a corner, along with bleach to purify water. I like the idea of being able to survive for a few months if needed. Not trying to prepare for end of world/society with a goal of being 100% self sufficient or anything like that tho.

I would keep 50-100 lbs. of dog food around. With a Rottie and a Mastiff if we don't supply food, we may become food.
