So? Build one to your own specs and get it for half that price :138:

Thinktank wrote:When every new F150 on the lot is $70,000 and up, do you think I'm going to look around "for a deal?"

I'm going to go in and ask for $7,000 off? [icon_lol2.gif]

And at the GM dealers, one or two half ton pickups are $38,000 on sale and all the rest are over $45,000. (sale price)

The world is getting more unfair and disgusting every day. :smt045
Governments have allowed the rich to get richer for the last twenty years, at the poor's expense.

I wonder if we can change that?

The world is "unfair" and "disgusting" and you're wondering if we "can change that" yet you don't want to look around for a deal? [icon_lol2.gif] [icon_lol2.gif] [icon_lol2.gif]

:swear:

That's obscene. So they drop the price by $10,000 - still insane. And I was going to comment on how something is very wrong in this country when it comes to new vehicles, when
I saw this

for only $18,000. Wow. I'd buy it if I needed a new car.

Could that really be true - brand new Trax for only $18,000?

Heck,

The MSRP on a loaded f-150/GM 1500 can top out at $90k, often wondered who the heck spends that amount on a truck. Even with a decent down payment your monthly payments have got to be $800-$1000 per month. Obscene & insane prices.

Yet you can get a well equipped F150 for half that price. Better yet, get a nicely equipped Civic or Corolla for the low 20s. Heck, go to Nissan and get a brand new Micra for $10K

The Mrs and I have been looking for a nice little crossover to hit the trails and do some weekend camping. Fully loaded Crosstrek runs you about $34K yet you can get the base model for $10K less. Sure, it doesn't have a sunroof, LED lights, nicer seats but who the freak cares? For 10 grand you can get some nice camping equipment and pay for fuel for the next 10 years.

We have a corolla hybrid, almost 1000kms on tank of gas - all city driving. Our truck rarely leaves the garage, a 1978 chev big block with 80,000kms. Takes half a tank of fuel just to fire it up!

KIA has upped their game in reliability and overall quality over the last few years.

In general I would say avoid cars . Lean towards American 1 ton or at least half ton trucks. Even the Mercedes Benz cars seem to be junk now days. It does not matter what brand. Kia there are so many stories out there. Recent stories as well. They do look shiny though. Hoping the best for the new ride.

Personally I wouldn’t take anything built by the former big 3.

Last few vehicles I have purchased has been between VW & Toyota.

I wouldn't. Lots of good quality and reliable cars out there. Very few people actually need a truck.
Coonhound wrote:Lean towards American 1 ton or at least half ton trucks.

Many people lean towards smaller, good quality and reliable vehicles than unnecessary trucks.

Too much tech.

It does.

Actual data is a more reliable matrix than stories.

Your best bet in buying a reliable vehicle, go base model. The more gadgets you opt for, the higher your maintenance costs go up and the more issues you'll have down the road.

Bought a F350 in a September during " employee pricing" close to $20,000.00 off regular pricing.
Son did much the same last year with a F350 dually.

If you can wait a few months, the 2020's will be unloaded pretty cheap me thinks.

Ya I agree. My 76 Chevy is more reliable than my 2015 GMC. GM made better stuff in the 70s than they do today. It is a sorry state of affairs. Not sure what to think of it. Still would not buy an aluminum Ford. So I guess its Chevy / GMC or RAM

I keep getting emails from Huber Bannister in Penticton. They want me to trade in the GMC for a new LTZ. I can not justify the price. I will not buy another loaded half ton. Ill get a less fancy but equally capable 1 ton if I buy a new one . More likely to just buy a 5500 with a dump .

From consumer reports

"Kia’s powertrain offerings generally deliver respectable acceleration and fuel economy. The combination of strong reliability and owner satisfaction has Kia ranked highly among all brands. Its true standout model is the three-row Telluride SUV. A new Seltos SUV further expands the range in 2020."

They also have one of the best warranty's at 5 years and 100,000 kms.

Time will tell but there are no guarantee's with anything these days.

I have owned many different cars as I was on the road for work and got a new (to me) car approx every 2 years.
There are some makes I would never consider driving again and some I would. They can all build a lemon so you take your chances no matter what.

Even some of the cars that score lower on the reliability are still not bad cars as these days they are all greatly improved.
