Not only will it not work it's going to make everything more costly.

1200€ can go a long way in Germany depending on where you live. The Ruhrgebiet which is one of the most populated areas, you can rent a small one bedroom apartment for under 300€, 2-3 bedroom for about 400-450€. Groceries, 25-40€ a week can fill your basket with decent food. Case of 20 x 500ml bottles of the national beverage will run you 10€. Massive public transportation system in the area.

The world’s most robust study of universal basic income has concluded that it boosts recipients’ mental and financial well-being, as well as modestly improving employment.

Finland ran a two-year universal basic income study in 2017 and 2018, during which the government gave 2000 unemployed people aged between 25 and 58 monthly payments with no strings attached.

Prices may rise, but taxes may decrease.

Quite frankly, if we can give someone some money so they can afford a place to live and a place to do their drugs so I don't have to see it in an alleyway or on a sidewalk, then it's a win.
