Your wording suggests you meant that as a criticism, but aside from that it is not totally inaccurate. Higher education and progressive thought do tend to keep close company. As Professor Chomsky suggests, placing our fate in the hands of the corporate sector as we have done for the past half century or so has given rise to some nasty side effects and failure to bring things up to date is going to end badly. Conservative politics in its current form cannot deal with these issues, in fact they strive to see them endure.

Edited to add: This is more evident in American politics than Canadian, as we will see in the parade of Trump executive orders that Biden overturns in the near future. I listened to Erin O’Toole addressing the Canadian Club and he was saying things that would have had a lot of Conservatives screaming “Socialist!!” had it not come from the leader of the Conservative party.
