Vax Passport tip
So that I don't have to go searching for my passport in my photos on my phone I made it the lock screen photo. (iPhone)
Now all I have to do for quick access is start the phone.
Don't know how often I will need this but it looks like it should work OK.

Re: Vax Passport tip
I saw that yesterday and admittedly it will be the quickest way to access the code. I like my lock screen though so will have to be diligent about being ready.

I made it a favorite in my Wife's photos. That seems to work too.

Don't you need to use the "app"? Is the QR code not dynamic? What would the point of an app be if you are just able to take a screen shot of the app?

Because the information that is displayed is your information.
Actually, now that I think about it, that is a good question. If I took a snap of your QR code, wouldn't that be all I needed to get into a whatever?
Hmmmmm.

Sounds too me as though I could share my QR code with anyone. No?
I know that the Government is telling us not to share them but really, who is going to honor that request?
It would be kind of ironic for an anti vaxxer to use a "borrowed" vax passport.

According to one of the authorities speaking at last week's press conference (Horgan, Dix, Henry), the person checking for vaxports at the door is expected to ask you to show photo ID along with your vaxport - which is why it made so little sense for them to say you couldn't use the card you got when you got your shots "because there's too much private information on it". There's nothing on the vaccine card we already have that wouldn't be on our photo ID.

You can also create a shortcut to that picture and put the shortcut as an icon on your home screen.
This way you just click the icon and it brings up that picture.

That's the only way this works but then the "quick" part is going to take a hit. I don't see it lasting long, they'll start taking cursory glances and that will be that.rustled wrote: ↑Sep 13th, 2021, 9:04 amAccording to one of the authorities speaking at last week's press conference (Horgan, Dix, Henry), the person checking for vaxports at the door is expected to ask you to show photo ID along with your vaxport - which is why it made so little sense for them to say you couldn't use the card you got when you got your shots "because there's too much private information on it". I would think that the QR code would be "revolving" so the information is always updated and the old QR code would be invalid. This way when they change the requirement to have a vax passport, the information will always be up to date. This would reduce the amount of fraud. Surely they have thought of that... or not.

Yes, seems to me that's how it'll likely play out.mexi cali wrote: ↑Sep 13th, 2021, 9:08 amThat's the only way this works but then the "quick" part is going to take a hit. I don't see it lasting long, they'll start taking cursory glances and that will be that.rustled wrote: ↑Sep 13th, 2021, 9:04 am

I wonder if you download it if the information is "in flux" or does it become static and a manual re-download would be required to keep it current?Beerhunter341 wrote: ↑Sep 13th, 2021, 9:08 amI would think that the QR code would be "revolving" so the information is always updated and the old QR code would be invalid. I am curious about this as well because it is a double edged sword. What happens when there is no internet/wifi available. Can't wait to see how they handle 20,000 screaming fans trying to get in at a Metallica concertmexi cali wrote: ↑Sep 13th, 2021, 9:13 amI wonder if you download it if the information is "in flux" or does it become static and a manual re-download would be required to keep it current?Beerhunter341 wrote: ↑Sep 13th, 2021, 9:08 am

Re: Vax Passport tip
I have an Android phone ... had to do some experimentation but I finally settled on using "Shortcut Maker" to add a button to my home screen that opens the screenshot directly using the "Photos" app ... lots of photo widgets but none of them seemed up-to-date and working with the viewer app needed ...
