Perfect Canadian story:

Woke white idiot complains about the name of the local school, claiming "Iroquois" is "offensive", as it is a "colonial settler name". Get that? ONE idiot complains, using this stupid Orwellian language about "colonial settlers", and the school board IMMEDIATELY capitulates, and decides to change the name, without consulting any Indigenous at all. How DUMB is this stupid woke world we live in now? How DUMB are the people supposedly in charge of our municipalities, our school boards, our provincial and federal governments???

Iroquois Ridge, an Oakville, Ont., high school, will undergo a renaming process after an unnamed community member complained that Iroquois is a “colonial settler term for the Haudenosaunee and is seen as a derogatory term and is not respectful of Indigenous peoples,” according to the school board’s summary of the complaint.

But there is still some debate about whether the term “Iroquois” is strictly derogatory, and at least one member of the Haudenosaunee has said that the Indigenous community is “upset” that it wasn’t consulted on the name change.

On March 6, members of the Halton District School Board approved the start of the renaming process. The board has not identified the person who complained about the school’s name.

At the meeting, there was little debate about whether “Iroquois” is indeed a derogatory term. Heather Francey, the HDSB’s manager of communications and engagement, said at the meeting that “to avoid perpetuating further harm,” the role of trustees was “to not debate or negotiate the current name of the school.”

“It has already been confirmed to be inappropriate,” said Francey. Some say that Iroquois is a name the French used and it translates to “snakes.”

As a parent, if I found out that my child’s teacher/school was lying to me about the name, status, pronouns my child was going by I would filing a lawsuit. Under no circumstances is it ok for them to lie to the parents nor is it ok for them to teach kids how to effectively lie to their parents. It is absolutely imperative for kids and parents to have as much communication as possible, especially when kids are so engaged on social media. To encourage kids to sneak behind their parents back is dangerous and irresponsible.
If students are questioning their gender, then a school councillor should be involved to discuss the situation and get the child in touch with their doctor to help them further. It should not be up to the teachers. This is not their expertise nor their responsibility.
I wonder what the outcome of this case will be.

Saying "it's absolutely fine" to take a living person and put them to death is a bit disingenuous I think. I doubt that's how carefree the death penalty is viewed anywhere in the US but it definitely makes a more dramatic comparison.

It’s not so much that they can have a gun, it’s the attitude that they can solve a problem with the gun. It’s not a last resort, it’s often a first choice. Violence is so ingrained into their culture.
