Re: Gardening 2016: Fruits, Veggies, Flowers
We moved a Trumpet Vine. Omigod, the root was huge and complicated to move. The dirt fell away from it, and instead of a root ball we planted it bare root. Everything took forever but I did get a lot of clean up done, including finding lots of plants to transfer.

^Bman's got that posted in his front yard cuz she's classy like that.
The wind was so cold and biting today, I didn't do anything in the yard. I may have over bought seeds though. A bit of Spring fever.

Just store the seeds until the germination rate has reduced the usable number to the amount needed. I think it is around 12% per year except for dandelions which apparently store in the soil forever >>>Unread postby Queen K » Yesterday, 10:23 pm

That tends to happen around here.
Must. Win. Lottery.
For all the new plants out there to buy.

PM me if you want June Bearing strawberry plants. They are out of the raised bed, in containers.

Re: Gardening 2016: Fruits, Veggies, Flowers
A friend who works at a hardware store (out of town) came by for an appointment. I couldn't meet her, our schedules wouldn't line up. So I dug up a few plants she wanted and left them for her. She left me some variegated iris (yay!) and apparently all the spring bulbs her store was disposing of.
I'm splitting with my best friend (who is her cousin). After planting my share, she has 118 bulbs to plant. Okay, so I may have taken a little less than half. But WOW. I'm going to have an army of daffs and narcissi!

I haven't failed until I quit.

Gave away tonnes of plants today. She thought she took a lot, but really, it barely made a dent.
Same goes for giving away strawberry plants, parsley, raspberry canes by the tonne one year and many others. Plants: they grow to give.

Will you try to start those Meconopsis for me? I still have to drop them off and I'm not sure when I'll have the time.Bman wrote:I've been seeding annuals till I'm cross eyed for days now.

Yes no problem. Drop them off any time.
If I'm not around put them in the mailbox.

Like they say, you can lead a horticulture, but ya can't make her drink.
That's my only gardening joke.
Bye bye, winter.
