They got squishy after they thawed, not going to try now. Darn it - was a good harvest too!

My chard is loving this weather though, doing very well.

I am so sad for you. You worked hard to get them. We can comminserate because I lost all my Bay leaves to the cold snap.

I've got lots of parsley growing though, this cool rainy weather hasn't discouraged pansies from blooming too. They are in the wheelbarrels.

Over 6,000 pounds of food per year, on 1/10 acre located just 15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The Dervaes family grows over 400 species of plants, 4,300 pounds of vegetable food, 900 chicken and 1,000 duck eggs, 25 lbs of honey, plus seasonal fruits throughout the year.

Yes, he has quite the book too. He quit selling at the farmer's market and is now selling wholesale to local grocery stores. He's an inspiration. If I had the ambition and time I could turn my own place into something much much more farming intensive. Reimagine the raised beds and re-do two areas in the back.

I admire him for following his dream.
