I haven't seen anymore evidence of them coming around again, maybe someone has venison roasts put away by now?

Peas are starting to come up outside of the hoop house, I can see bits of green among the dark earth. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.

I found a cool new tulip at Safeway ($3!) - looks sort of like a daffodil

Any suggestions on where to go for plant identification? Just bought a house and am fairly new to Canadian gardening.

Thanks! I am hoping Saturday won't be rainy, so I can get that rose moved.

We're also in the middle of a fence rebuild. Well, the original fence was wood and is now in pieces in the neighbour's yard. I went to tell him we'd be in his yard to knock down the old fence and put up a new one, and he said "That's fantastic! Just leave the old wood in my yard and I'll get rid of it, plus I'll pay for half the costs of rebuilding!" :135: When does that ever happen? :200: :yahoo:

Now, I'm digging up an area between our two yards about a foot or so wide. I'm going to put down landscape fabric because that crappy quackgrass keeps invading my garden. Suggestions? Improvements?

No suggestions.

I planted red potatoes today. And shallots yesterday. Lots of Grand Rapid lettuce is coming up. Peas too. Oh and the rhubarb is looking strong. I've got mesculin and red lettuce coming up too.

I am hoping that since I left to go on tour of Japan there has been enough rain (rather than snow) to water all those radish, green onion, lettuce and carrot seeds I planted.

Has it been naturally moist there or not....could use a report from gardener point of view, folks!
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

No worries here. Have not had to water anything yet.

Planted ours in the Fall and it's almost a foot tall.
