Harvested kale today, for Zuppa Toscana soup. It was great.

I haven't failed until I quit.

My Raspberries are toast. They have a boring worm that has devastated them.

Been eating out of my garden lots. Kale is great rite now. So are the potatoes. Gf made squash and potatoe and kale soup last night. All from the garden. Turned out excellent.
Was looking at the weather. Calling for minus 3 overnight. Do u all cover your gardens. I am tempted to try

I do if I have something tender (like tomatoes or peppers) still growing. I've pretty much exhausted those, however, so I won't bother. Catsumi was talking about using sheets, back in the earlier parts of this thread.

Very few new stalks this year and when I trimmed them back for Winter there was the telltale hole in the center.
I will se what we can do but I suspect I will have to pull them. This is not the first time we have had this problem and I think they came from our neighbors plants which have not been doing well.

Thanks for the offer and I will keep it in mind but for now I have given up on them.
Unless I can find an effective way to control the boring worms there is no point in trying.

You would have to dig up the canes and the surrounding area. Those worms will Winter over in the soil. Choose a different, short life, plant for that area next year. Maybe strawberries? Give up on the raspberries for a couple of years.

I was thinking of a whole different area but yea, I see Bsuds point.
I am in the midst of a whole yard change. Very challenging.

It's now 2020. There will be no professional landscapers. No sunroom. No yard sales to clear what I wanted to clear.
And with April being in the top 20 coldest on record, no early planting. BAH.
