A friend built his bed floating by cantilevering it out from the wall. He used be steel beams hidden in the wall for support. And then he had two metal forks sticking out at bed height to hold the bed. From the room you see none of that because he built the bed frame to hide the forks. Nothing but space under the bed. It's really quite cool.

Round 2

You may have noticed a space between the closet and the wall on the far left side of the bed.
Being 31" wide and 27" deep it was pretty much wasted space. Until now.

I made this 30" x 25" shelving unit to fit in nicely.

As you can see, it's tight fitting into my Audi wagon.

A beautiful fit

The 32" tv is a little larger than I really want.

Since most of the materials were left over from the bed I only spent around $30 on it.

Thanks Queen :smt045
No to the old chest, they weren't willing to slide on the price enough.
I did however buy another that looks perfect as it is for the same price.

As an update on the bed. Two things I have noticed.

First off, it is tough to vacuum all the way under. I know it's a common problem, but probably a little more noticeable when you can see further under it.

Secondly, when you can easily walk around it, and have no head or foot boards on a bed they are easy to make up.
I just lift the mattress over the1" lip, rotate it a little and make it up. Then of course put it back in place.

Plus I finished the next piece a few days ago.
The explanation with this piece is I just wanted a nice multi purposes bench on wheels.

It must be suitable as a breakfast bar if needed.
Able to store my pots, lids, and some canisters.

I managed it all.

Part way through the build I decided to add a lip to the top,so I could store my spices without them falling.

Oh, the size is 2' x 4' and 36" high. Pretty much the height of your kitchen counter.

The only changes I plan on making are replacing the casters with some of better quality.
Plus adding a couple wooden pins to hold my collection of wooden spoons.

I can again sit anywhere on it without any cracking, creaking or any other damage.
Which is my personal standard in strength.
