What for?
Get sheers at thrift shops, super cheap.

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Re: Growing/sharing/learning to garden: 2022
You can't possibly tear the landscaping fabric I use accidentally. I have to use a utility knife or scissors to cut it where I want it to be cut. Where I've used it to line the bottom of a bed, no weeds have ever come up through it.
Most of mine's covered in sharp landscaping rocks, which get walked on. No holes, even after years of use, and no weeds coming up through it. Dirt can build up on top of it, though, allowing seeds to take root, and these sometimes cling to the top surface of the fabric. After several years of silt collecting on top, I've had to rake back the rocks, pull up the fabric and wipe off the cobwebby roots, then I put the landscaping fabric right back down again and keep using it.

Oddly, it doesn't give the roll width. As I recall, it's about 6'? Might be wider.

I always found the LF didn't last worth beans
but in the day I'm sure no one used anything
The carpet tip is great Cats.. you can also map out the exact size - get a visual before you start digging

If you think I am going to drive to Penticton to buy landscape fabric at ant price, you are wrong.

Can also use a heavy-duty tarp or corrugated cardboard. Couple of years ago saw a lady coming out of the grocery store with 2 full carts of broken down cardboard boxes. Chuckled and asked if she was moving. She said no, she uses them for killing weeds and grass in areas she wants to put flower beds. Explained that she puts down 2 or 3 layers of cardboard, making sure they overlap, then covers with a fine layer of dirt/soil and mulch. Said she did that at her previous home and 5 years later still no weeds.

I'm sure it's available for a similar price somewhere near you.

Is that square foot or lineal foot? IF so, how wide is the material?

I'd guess $1 a lineal foot. Been a while since I've had to buy it. It's probably 6' wide. Amazon sells it different sizes AND different weights:
https://www.amazon.ca/Happybuy-Landscap ... 2070&psc=1
I think you'd likely find it by the foot at a local landscaping company, too.

Everybody around here sells it by the roll. Each of varying widths from 16" - 72".rustled wrote: ↑Jun 27th, 2022, 1:03 pm$1 a lineal foot. It's probably 6' wide. Amazon sells it different sizes AND different weights:

Who wants to roll off 40 feet of 72" cloth and cut it into 16" strips to cover those tiny little gardens between the house and the sidewalk?
At any rate, I wouldn't drive to Rona to save $0.05/sq/ft on landscape cloth.

Art Knapps sells it from large rolls and you can buy as much as you want.
Other products like sunshade material too.
