Re: Canadian Football League
In the late 60's through the 70's you had a lot of Americans playing in Canada making MORE money than in the NFL. Many American's wanted to start in Canada where they knew they would get the chance to play and improve their skills THEN head to the NFL.my5cents wrote: ↑Nov 5th, 2023, 12:20 pmI think you meant 100,000+ seat stadium. In the NFL the average ticket price rose in 2023 from $235 to $377. Yes, there are certain teams and certain games (Super Bowl for example) that a highly priced. As for college football the highest prices are for Colorado Buffaloes at an average of $517.steven lloyd wrote: ↑Nov 4th, 2023, 7:31 pm Is the economy that much better in the US? I have friends in Alabama and they will fill a $100,000 + seat stadium on game day at $1000 a pop average and that's college. I think every pro game I've watched has also had full stadiums. Sadly, I think many Canadians are losing interest in the CFL.
It's not the economy it's the quality of the product.
IMO the Canadian football game is better, but that's where it stops. The TV coverage is much worse than poor. Poor play by play and analysis would be a huge improvement. Sadly the "quality" of the TV coverage matches the game on the field.
Any player in the CFL that shows great promise moves to the US. Our CFL has the second strain US players, the former mediocre to good NFL players trying to extend their football careers and Canadians that could never make the NFL.
In some US locations there is greater support for high school football than our CFL teams.
Not sure about this now, but at one point, the highest paid player in the NFL made more in a year than ALL the CFL players added to together, that says something.

Well that was one hell of a football game. The ending, so typical of the CFL. Final couple of minutes, don't leave your seat.
Some great catches, interceptions as well.
Great runs, brutal hits. What's their bodies like at the end of their career?
Just too bad one team had to lose this great game.

Of course I was leaning Winnipeg way, but still enjoyed the game immensely. Talking to one of my kids throughout the game, and he's a big NFL fan. He was impressed.GordonH wrote: ↑Nov 19th, 2023, 8:03 pmCongratulations to the Montreal Alouettes on Winning 2023 Grey Cup.Babba_not_Gump wrote: ↑Nov 19th, 2023, 7:37 pm Well that was one hell of a football game. That was one of the better Grey Cups in recent memory, no blow outs.
Even with the run-pass-kick, 3 down play, great game.

Loved the comeback by the underdogs.

Terrific game, congrats to the Als, very happy for them.
Gotta say I really enjoyed the Green Day half time show too. I was never really into them but I think they sounded and looked great considering how long they've been at it.
