Three cheers for our Rockets and for the coaching staff's quiet, low key unassuming style of coaching!
It's especially nice to see the ultra-talented Miles Bell stop loafing and floating around the ice.
Cole Martin is always worth watching. He is quietly brilliant.
Too bad to only get one point for Friday's obvious overtime winning goal by Ryan Olsen.
Last night, the officiating was deplorable, and not in a homer kind of way.
Bad calls or non-calls on both teams, with clear attempts to injure ignored by both referees, who delighted in giving the booing fans smart-ass grins.
Surely, with the solid financial state of the WHL, we can afford to find qualified referees with 20-20 vision and linesmen that know what an offside play looks like.
Those four stripers from Friday's game should be ashamed.
Otherwise, a great game; playoffs soon!

Wow Portland is on a 20 game win streak and is now only 3 points behind Kelowna (Kelowna has two games in hand). Before this streak Rockets had 70 points and Portland had 57 (13 points lead) and looked like they were going to run away for first place overall. Now with about 10 games left in the Season looks like there is going to be a battle.

Yes, but looking at who they played in that 20 game streak did not include Edmonton, Calgary or Kelowna. Their last 9 games are against some of the same teams that they beat in last 20 games.

Meanwhile Kelowna has 11 games remaining, that they can very well win.

I still believe rockets will finish first overall. Just the gap will be closer then it looked like a month ago. Instead of like 15 points might be 4 or 5 now.

As I see it, if it means going into playoff healthy. I would rather be #2 in Western Conference, the key for Kelowna now is keep the injury bug away. Not repeat of last year.

Back to back 50 win season for the Rockets!! With 9 games still to play can beat their franchise record which was set last season with 52 wins.

With there remaining schedule they should win most if not all of the games:

Fri Feb 28 Vancouver @ Kelowna
Sat Mar 1 Kelowna @ Vancouver
Tue Mar 4 Kelowna @ Everett
Wed Mar 5 Spokane @ Kelowna
Sat Mar 8 Tri-City @ Kelowna
Tue Mar 11 Victoria @ Kelowna
Wed Mar 12 Kelowna @ Kamloops
Fri Mar 14 Kelowna @ Vancouver

Then the run to Memorial Cup in London Ontario starts.

Kelowna should be able to pickup 2 points tonight, meanwhile Spokane may give Portland a harder time for there 2 points.

Portland is the team to beat in the WHL once again. They are healthy and rolling without teams putting up much of a challenge. I don't put much stock in Kelowna's wins against them this season as they had numerous injuries to key players in each game. The Rockets are well built but right now it's advantage Portland in a 7 game series.

At the same time I would like to see Portland get upset early in the playoffs (though don't think that is likely to happen), but on the other hand would really love to see a Kelowna and Portland western conference final. If both teams have all their players it would be one hell of a series that would most likely go 7 games. Rockets have a team that could beat Portland, but it would not be easy.

I agree with that. Kelowna is very well rounded but the way Portland is running through every team they are going to be a tough team to beat. They're healthy and have some game breakers.

Baring an upset we should see these 2 go at it in round 3 of WHL Championships.

Added Later: 4 team are mathematically eliminated from 2014 WHL Playoffs

Moose Jaw Warriors
Saskatoon Blades
Lethbridge Hurricanes
Kamloops Blazers

After tonight's win Rockets officially lock up first place in the WHL and will have home ice advantage throughout the entire playoffs. Hopefully it will be a long playoffs run with an Ed Chynoweth Cup at the end.

May it be so jaz.

As soon as I know who will play who in WHL western conference playoff, I will set up a poll. Positions 1, 2, 7, 8 are set, could be changes in 3, 4 & 5.
