Canucks could have taken Brodeur and Jagr with two first round picks, but they took Petr Nedved and Shawn Antoski instead.

Just out of curiosity, why is this so important that players need to wear this jersey.

Can someone give me an answer.

What really makes me angry is that the Blackhawks say they wouldn't observe Pride Events because it violated Russian laws and put Russian players at risk. I call bull on that and there are several Russian players in the league who did wear rainbow jerseys. At any rate since when does Vladimir Putin dictate what happens in the NHL? The NHL is always way behind every other league when it comes to human rights, sexual abuse issues etc. In this day and age it needs to be more welcoming. If someone doesn't want to wear the jersey or use the stick tape for one game in the season, they should sit out the game.

The risk is towards the Family members of nhl players still living in Russia.

btw probably majority of current Russian nhl players are not going to visit family, because the moment they touch down their is good chance they would be conscripted to military service.

That's baloney. Other Russian players wore the jerseys. That's the excuse du jour.

Interesting article...
The West is awash in corporate rainbows. Since the LGB and T communities became politically respectable some years back, big businesses have made sure to participate in Pride parades, both as a form of public-relations outreach to we alphabeters in particular, and to social progressives in general. While some radicals claim that Pride has sold its soul, others counter that this pandering for profit by commercial elites only serves to confirm our status as equal members of once bigoted societies.

Recently, however, many organizations have gone beyond the usual rainbow ads, signage, flyers, sponsorships, and parade floats. They are now enlisting their employees and affiliates in public demonstrations of “allyship.” In the view of this gay progressive author, such moves are implicitly coercive and counterproductive. In some cases, they even run afoul of the core principles that animate liberal democracies, such as freedom of conscience.

Florida at Boston
NY Islanders at Carolina
NY Rangers at New Jersey
Tampa Bay at Toronto

Western Conference still waiting... Colorado still has a chance to take top spot in the Central Division.

Regarding the rainbow crusade,

It's a misdirection to say that there is threat of repercussion to Russian players' families. It's a way to exaggerate the intent and extent of those particular Russian laws as well as simple vilification painting. It's a way to skirt the issue at hand which is compelling employees against their conscience to perform an act of support for a lifestyle that they don't condone. It's that simple, and the woke establishment doesn't want to start lighting the bundles of sticks under these sports-tier martyrs cuz then the silent majority will do what's happening to Budweiser right now which is a corporation's nightmare.

At some point there is going to be a cascade of teams taking their cue from the Tampa Bay Rays and the whole team will decline to be made into pride cucks for some silly gaslighting agenda.
