Montreal beat Carolina 4 to 2, so next up is first round tango with Washington Capitals.Babba_not_Gump wrote: Apr 16th, 2025, 3:36 pm We'll have to wait a few hours for Montreal. The game is on after a bunch of politicians finish talking French.![]()

Re: NHL
my picks off the top of my head.
Montreal over Washington
Ottawa over Toronto
Florida teams doesn’t matter either one.
Carolina over New Jersey
Winnipeg over St Louis
Minnesota over Vegas
Dallas over Colorado
Edmonton over Los Angeles
Totally opposite of what Gary Bettman looking for, with probably exception of US team matchups.

Montreal over Washington? That would be nice.

I just hope next year they have some Refs who are not optically challenged.
I know they a human and will miss some but they shouldn't need a seeing eye dog to help them make calls.

Bumped up
Next up is the Draft (it’s a weak year), free agency probably going to be a busier than usual.
Hey Edmonton Oilers don’t forget to check out UFA defencemen and goaltenders.

Re: NHL
I saw this and if the numbers are correct, it is sad. I did check averages in attendance ot games, and they are in the same range as the Oilers or Vancouver.
Can you imagine being a back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion and having 96.8% of the households in your market not tuned into the finals. That’s one of several reasons why hockey in Florida continues to be a joke!

Currently the Farm Clubs Playoffs are in the Finals aka Calder Cup.
Charlotte Checkers vs Abbotsford Canucks
Abbotsford is up 3 games to 1, game 5 happens Saturday in Abbotsford.
Charlotte is Florida Panthers farm club.

Re: NHL
I heard this today.
WHY are the Leafs a failing club?? The age of their players. They make big money, and that's plenty. No need to bleed as I get paid the same.
Maybe true the younger gen doesn't look at succeeding the way the older ones do. Example, the old guys in Florida and Edmonton seemed to show desire!

Re: NHL
Vegas traded 3,000,000 salary for a 11,600,000 salary, Mitch Marner is a Golden Knight.
Who is Vegas not going to renew the contract so they have enough Cap space, because Toronto didn’t keep any of Mitch’s contract.
